In lens crystal cataracts resembling Christmas tree decorations there are, most commonly in the nucleus, crystals in tubular cavities whose double refraction corresponds to that of cholesterol. There are considerable differences in the sizes of the crystals and they are not restricted to the borders of the lens fibers.
