Chromate and Chromate–Phosphate Conversion Coatings on Aluminium
Arabian Journal for Science and Engineering, 2011Investigations of chromate and chromate–phosphate conversion coatings on aluminium using SIMS and AES techniques revealed that they are composed of hydrated chromium oxide/hydroxide and chromium phosphate respectively. These compositions are consistent with the electrochemical mechanism for conversion coating formation on aluminium.

Non-Chromate Talc Conversion Coatings for Aluminum
CORROSION 1994, 1994Abstract A method has been developed for applying an inorganic conversion coating on aluminum that is procedurally similar to chromate conversion coating methods. This new method, however, does not use or produce hazardous or toxic chemicals.

Chromate conversion coatings on aluminium–copper alloys
Corrosion Science, 2005Abstract The study compares the formation of chromate/fluoride conversion coatings, composed mainly of amorphous hydrated chromia, on model, solid-solution, binary Al–Cu alloys, of a range of compositions, and on 2014-T6 aluminium alloy. The model alloys, produced by magnetron sputtering, reveal the importance of copper in limiting the thickness of ...

Black chromate conversion coatings on electrodeposited zinc
Surface and Coatings Technology, 1988Abstract The properties of black chromate conversion coatings on electrodeposited zinc and Zn-Co alloy have been investigated. A possible method is described for the determination of the optical thickness of the coating. It has been established that the presence of certain additives, e.g.

Chromate Conversion Coatings on 2024 Al Alloy
Surface and Interface Analysis, 1997X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and potentiodynamic measurements have been made on chromate conversion-coated Al 2024-T3 alloy. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy measurements indicated that the conversion coating had a surface of CrOOH and Cr(VI), enriched in ferricyanide.
