High‐Index, Low‐Loss Optical Material Platforms for Ultra‐Broadband Ultraviolet‐to‐Visible Achromatic Metalenses

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 49, 18 June 2026.
An integrated material platform combining engineered SiNx thin films and printable ZrO2 nanoparticle‐embedded resin enables broadband achromatic metalenses from the ultraviolet to visible range. The demonstrated meta‐optics achieve near‐diffraction‐limited focusing with minimal chromatic aberration.

On Chromatic Quasisymmetric Functions of Directed Graphs

open access: yes, 2018
In 1912, Birkhoff introduced the chromatic polynomial of a graph, which counts the number of proper colorings of a graph. In 1995, Stanley introduced the chromatic symmetric function of a graph, a symmetric function analog of the chromatic polynomial of ...

Chromatic quasisymmetric functions and Hessenberg varieties

open access: yes
We discuss three distinct topics of independent interest; one in enumerative combinatorics, one in symmetric function theory, and one in algebraic geometry.

Security‐Enhanced Differential Binary‐Phase‐Shift‐Keying Quantum Key Distribution With a Wavelength‐Switchable Single‐Photon Carrier

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
A single‐chip dual‐wavelength coherent photon source is proposed to add parametric uncertainty and improve the security of single‐photon differential binary‐phase‐shift‐keying quantum key distribution. This wavelength‐uncertain coding or decoying operation enables flexible and secure D‐BPSK‐QKD transmission over a wavelength‐division‐multiplexed ...

The Chromatic Symmetric Function for Unicyclic Graphs

open access: yes
Motivated by the question of which structural properties of a graph can be recovered from the chromatic symmetric function (CSF), we study the CSF of connected unicyclic graphs. While it is known that there can be non-isomorphic unicyclic graphs with the same CSF, we find experimentally that such examples are rare for graphs with up to 17 vertices.

Optimizing External Quantum Efficiency in Scattering‐Enhanced QD Composites for Color Displays: A Rigorous Monte Carlo Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
We model light propagation and color conversion in quantum dot composites for color displays. We show how the introduction of scattering particles enhances the absorption of blue light and improves the outcoupling of light, increasing the external efficiency and providing better color stability by reducing reabsorption effects.

Ultra‐Compact Low‐Loss 3D Glass Waveguide Chip Using Femtosecond Laser Writing Technique

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
An ultra‐compact, low‐loss fan‐in/fan‐out device for 4‐core fiber is demonstrated using femtosecond laser direct writing. Multi‐scan and overwriting methods are employed to produce low‐loss waveguides. A trench‐assisted offset‐assisted cosine‐shaped model is proposed to reduce bending loss.

Optimized Deep Learning Framework for Diabetic Retinopathy Based on Systematic Multi‐Stage Transfer Learning and Predictive Risk Stratification

open access: yesApplied AI Letters, Volume 7, Issue 2, June 2026.
A multi‐stage transfer learning framework systematically optimizes CNN architectures for diabetic retinopathy detection and risk stratification from fundus images. EfficientNetB7 achieves 96% accuracy while a survival‐inspired model generates continuous risk scores aligned with DR severity for clinically meaningful patient risk assessment.

Light‐Responsive Carbon Dots with Photochromism and Excitation‐Dependent Room Temperature Phosphorescence

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, Volume 5, Issue 6, June 2026.
A light‐responsive system with photochromism and excitation‐dependent phosphorescence was constructed by microwave synthesis of nitrogen‐doped carbon dots(N‐CDs), which provides insights into the design and synthesis of CDs with multifunctional optical properties, promoting the application expansion of intelligent responsive materials in the fields of ...

Design of a Fluorescent Boronic Acid‐Functionalized Pyranoflavylium Receptor to Host and Release Diol‐Rich Bioactive Analytes in a pH‐Dependent Manner

open access: yesChemFoodChem, Volume 2, Issue 2, June 2026.
This work presents a pH‐responsive ON–OFF fluorescent system based on a novel pyranoflavylium dye functionalized with a boronic acid receptor. The receptor exhibits a markedly higher affinity for the catechol‐containing polyphenol (+)‐catechin than for conventional diol‐rich molecules such as glucose and lactic acid.
