The continuing significance of chiral agrochemicals

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 1697-1716, April 2025.
In the time frame 2018–2023, around 43% of the 35 chiral agrochemicals introduced to the market (herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, acaricides, and nematicides) contain one or more stereogenic centers in the molecule, and almost 69% of them have been marketed as racemic mixtures of enantiomers or stereoisomers.

Thermochemical Recycling and Degradation Strategies of Halogenated Polymers (F−, Cl−, Br−): A Holistic Review Coupled with Mechanistic Insights

open access: yesThe Chemical Record, EarlyView.
This review aims to comprehensively address recent degradation techniques (physical, chemical and biological) of halogenated waste polymers with a prime focus on thermal degradation techniques. Exploiting various metal oxides during co‐pyrolysis is deemed a viable solution for recycling halogenated polymeric waste.

Hunting method affects cortisol levels in harvested mountain hares (Lepus timidus)

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
The direct effects of hunting on hunted individuals and populations have been well known for a long time. However, recently there has also been an increased focus on the indirect, non‐lethal effects of hunting. When approached by a possible threat such as a predator, the prey releases various stress hormones into the bloodstream.

Chemical profiling and characterisation of anthraquinone‐based polyphenols as biocolourants from Cortinarius semisanguineus

open access: yesColoration Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract Anthraquinone dyes are known for their significant colour (brightness of shade in the red, blue and green areas) and light fastness properties compared with other synthetic dyes (such as azo‐based dyes). However, challenging multi‐step synthesis of anthraquinones and limited access to fewer substituents result in insufficient reactivity ...

Miniaturized green liquid‐phase sample pre‐concentration methods for pharmaceutical drugs assessment in wastewater

open access: yesWater and Environment Journal, Volume 39, Issue 2, Page 143-167, May 2025.
Abstract Microextraction methods such as hollow fibre‐liquid phase microextraction (HF‐LPME), dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction (DLLME), single‐drop microextraction (SDME) and ultrasound‐assisted emulsification microextraction (USAEME) have become prominent for analysing pharmaceuticals in wastewater. HF‐LPME, particularly the three‐phase system,

Design of preparative-supercritical fluid chromatography

open access: yesJournal of Chromatography A, 2012
Preparative supercritical fluid chromatography (prep-SFC) is an important separation process in the chromatographers toolbox. Owing to the unique properties of the mobile phase, which is predominantly CO(2), the behavior of SFC is markedly different from high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).

Cost‐Effective Nanosensor Solutions for Ultra‐Sensitive Detection of Metronidazole

open access: yesAnalytical Science Advances, Volume 6, Issue 1, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Metronidazole (MNZ) is a widely used imidazole antibiotic effective against bacterial and protozoal infections, including giardiasis, trichomoniasis, bacterial vaginosis, and antibiotic‐associated colitis. However, prolonged and excessive use of MNZ can lead to serious side effects, such as peripheral neuropathies, toxicity, and optic ...

Application of Iron Oxide Magnetic Nanoparticles Modified by Superhydrophobic Cellulose as a Sorbent for Solid‐Phase Extraction of Fat‐Soluble Vitamins

open access: yesAnalytical Science Advances, Volume 6, Issue 1, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Superhydrophobic cellulose‐coated magnetic nanoparticles (SCCMNPs) were synthesized and applied as an advanced solid‐phase extraction (SPE) sorbent for the simultaneous extraction of fat‐soluble vitamins (FSVs) (A, E and D3). These modified nanoparticles (NPs) improve extraction efficiency and reduce process time through magnetic separation ...
