Acute, Fatal, Oral Chromic Acid Poisoning
Journal of Toxicology: Clinical Toxicology, 1999We report a 35-year-old woman who developed severe acidosis, massive gastrointestinal hemorrhage, acute renal failure, and hepatic injury following ingestion of chromic acid (50 mL) and died 12 hours after ingestion. Postmortem liver biopsy revealed a fatty degeneration with chromium concentration 3.6 mumol/g.

Chromic Acid Burns and Acute Chromium Poisoning
Journal of Burn Care & Rehabilitation, 1985The problems encountered during the treatment of a patient with burns covering 40 per cent of the body surface caused by hot chromic acid and the resulting chromium poisoning are described. Anuria developed on the second day after injury and the patient died on the sixth day.

Southern Medical Journal, 1994The use of an episiotomy for vaginal delivery is a controversial topic in modern obstetrics. If one is done, however, correct technique and appropriate suture material are important. On the LSU Obstetrics Service, the usual midline episiotomy has traditionally been closed with 2-0 chromic suture.
