Hantaishir ophiolite complex and chromitite, Altai region, Mongolia
The Journal of the Geological Society of Japan, 1998 モンゴル国アルタイ地域には超マフィツク岩川のメンバーにクロミタイトを伴うオフィオライトがあり, ハンタイシャーオフィオライトと呼ばれている. ユーラシア大陸のほば中心に位置する本オフィオライトが記録している上部マントルから地殻にかけての情報は広大な大陸形成前のテクトニクスを考えるうえで重要である. 特に超マフィック岩に記録された岩石・鉱物・鉱床学的情報は，マントルプロセスを明らかにするうえで興味深い. ここではJICAプロジェクト(JICA-IGMR project)の一環として行われた調査の一端としてハンタイシャーオフィオライトと伴われるクロミタイトの露頭を紹介する.
