The origin of Madagascar chromitites

open access: yesOre Geology Reviews, 2014
Abstract Precambrian rocks of Madagascar host numerous chromitite occurrences, ranging from centimeter-thick lenses and seams to orebodies containing millions of tons. Production of chromite concentrates and lumpy, coming from Bemanevika mine that was estimated to have a remaining life of 15 years ( Rahaga, 2009 ), establishes Madagascar as the world

Petrography and Metamorphism of the MetasedimentaryCountry-Rocks of the Jacurici Valley Chromitite-HostingMafic-Ultramafic Complexes, Bahia,Northeastern Brazil [PDF]

open access: yesGeologia USP.

Solid-state redistribution of mineral particles in the upwelling mantle flow as a mechanism of chromite concentration in the ophiolite ultramafic rocks (on the example of Kraka ophiolite, the Southern Urals)

open access: yesGeoresursy, 2019
The main regularities of the structure of chromitite-bearing zones of ultramafic rock of the ophiolitic association are considered on the example of Kraka massifs.

The occurrence, origin, and fate of water in chromitites in ophiolites

open access: yesAmerican Mineralogist, 2020
Abstract We present petrological investigations and mineral chemistry of several Tethyan ophiolites to reveal the occurrence, origin, and fate of water in podiform chromitites. The results show that clinopyroxene and olivine in chromitites have H2O contents of 801–366 and 53–17 ppm, respectively.

Hydrothermal remobilization platinum group elements and their secondary minerals in chromitite deposits of the Eastern Sayan ophiolites (Russia) [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
Serpentinization is an important post-magmatic process in spreading and subducted zones. This process is the cause of the remobilization and redistribution of highly mobile elements, platinum group elements (PGE) and base metals. Secondary platinum group

Chromitite deposits of Ufaley ultramafic massif (South Urals)

open access: yesGeoresursy
Data on the morphology, composition, textural and structural features of chromite deposits of the Ufaley ultramafic massif are presented. The mineralogical and compositional features of the host ultramafic rocks allow us to interpret them as depleted ...

Contamination of useful plant leaves with chromium and other potentially toxic elements and associated health risks in a polluted mining-smelting region of South Africa

open access: yesEnvironmental Advances, 2022
Foliar exposure to dust-borne potentially toxic elements (PTEs) is often overlooked in chromium (Cr) mining and industrial regions. A comparative analysis of unwashed (UL) and washed leaves (WL) was conducted to investigate the contribution of dust to Al,

Two new minerals, badengzhuite, TiP, and zhiqinite, TiSi2, from the Cr-11 chromitite orebody, Luobusa ophiolite, Tibet, China: is this evidence for super-reduced mantle-derived fluids? [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Mineralogy, 2020
Titanium minerals enclosed in corundum separated from the Cr-11 orebody include native Ti, zamboite (FeTiSi2), osbornite (TiN)-khamrabaevite (TiC) solid solutions, and jingsuiite (TiB2), as well as the new minerals badengzhuite (TiP) and zhiqinite (TiSi2)
