Petrological Evolution of the Upper Mantle Beneath the Southern Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone: Evidence from Kuhshah Peridotite Massif, Southeast Iran [PDF]
The Kuhshah ultramafic complex is located in the south-east of Sanandaj-Sirjan metamorphic zone, near the probable remnants of Neotethys plate in Iran. It consists of highly depleted harzburgites, dunites, chromitite bands and altered gabbros.

Peridotites occur as lensoid bodies within the Mesoarchaean orthogneiss in the Akia terrane of Southern West Greenland. The Ulamertoq peridotite body is the largest of these peridotites hosted within the regional orthogneiss.

Compositional variation of laurite at Union Section in the Western Bushveld Complex [PDF]
One hundred and forty five grains of laurite in polished sections of samples from one borehole through the major chromitite layers and some chromite-bearing silicate rocks of the Lower and Critical Zones of the western Bushveld Complex at Union Section ...

Abstract Understanding near‐surface groundwater storage, flow patterns, surface and groundwater interactions in mining areas can assist in making mining more efficient and profitable. This is especially important in opencast mines affected by water inflows that may negatively affect production and increase mining costs. We map and characterize the near‐

The Nidar Ophiolite and its surrounding units in the Indus Suture Zone (NW Himalaya, India): new field data and interpretations [PDF]
The Nidar Ophiolite is located between the North Himalayan nappes and the Indus Suture Zone in NW Himalaya in eastern Ladakh (India). Based mainly on geochemical argument, this ophiolite is classically interpreted as a relic of an intra-oceanic arc ...

Experimental petrology constraints on the recycling of mafic cumulate:a focus on Cr-spinel from the Rum Eastern Layered Intrusion, Scotland [PDF]
Reactive liquid flow is a common process in layered intrusions and more generally in episodically refilled magma chambers. Interaction between newly injected melt and cumulates, or crystal mushes, perturbs the liquid line of descent of the melt and ...

Abstract We reprocessed a 50‐km long legacy 2D reflection seismic profile acquired in 1986, under a project funded by the National Geophysics Program to improve the delineation of complex geological structures that host the platinum‐bearing horizons (known as the UG2 reef; a chromitite horizon) on the south‐eastern edge of the Western limb of the ...

We have collected, processed and analysed the reflectance spectra of representative chromitite samples of spot type, clot type and disseminated type textural variants to understand the diagnostic spectral features of each of these samples. We have found that the reflectance spectrum of each textural variant is distinct from the spectra of other ...

Abstract In the Bushveld Complex, South Africa, open pit mines are faced with a challenge of rock slope stability due to geological structures (fractures, faults and dykes) that compartmentalize the rock mass. Geophysical surveys (seismics, magnetics and electrical methods) were conducted in a 0.2 km2 area at Tharisa mine, with the goal to delineate ...
