Integrated geophysical methods for boulder delineation to improve mining
Abstract Near‐surface boulders can pose serious challenges to opencast mining. They often introduce complexities, delays in drilling, blasting and excavation programmes, which subsequently decrease mining efficiency, increase mining risks and costs. The location of subsurface boulders and the identification of other geological features that may impact ...

The Central Series of the Paleocene mafic to ultramafic Rum complex is the youngest of the three main cumulate series that make up the layered igneous complex of this famed Scottish island. The Central Series lies along the Long Loch Fault and provides insights into the feeder system to the Rum intrusion at an erosion level of about two kilometres ...

The podiform chromitites in the Dagküplü and Kavak mines, Eskisehir ophiolite (NW-Turkey) : genetic implications of mineralogical and geochemical data [PDF]
Mantle tectonites from Eskisehir (NW-Turkey) include high-Cr chromitites with limited variation of Cr#, ranging from 65 to 82. Mg# ratios are between 54 and 72 and chromite grains contain up to 3.71 wt% Fe2O3 and 0.30 wt% TiO2.

Abstract The Hongshishan chromitite deposits are situated to the north of the Beishan orogenic collage, in the southern part of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt. This study describes the mineral chemistry, Re‐Os isotopes and platinum‐group elements geochemistry of the Hongshishan chromitites for the purpose of constraining the origin, evolution and ...

Chromite in the mantle section of the Oman Ophiolite: Implications for the tectonic evolution of the Oman Ophiolite [PDF]
Chromite in the Oman ophiolite is located in the mantle section of the ophiolite sequence and forms abundant small podiformdeposits throughout the length of the ophiolite (Rollinson, 2005).The Oman ophiolite has an exposed mantle section of ca 10 000 km2,

Abstract The petrostructural and geochronological study of a poorly known ultramafic unit from SW Spain (Badajoz–Córdoba belt) combined with previous structural data permits disclosure of a history of metasomatism, tectono‐metamorphism, reworking and isotopic resetting related to a poly‐orogenic evolution in different geodynamic scenarios.

The origin of Madagascar chromitites
Abstract Precambrian rocks of Madagascar host numerous chromitite occurrences, ranging from centimeter-thick lenses and seams to orebodies containing millions of tons. Production of chromite concentrates and lumpy, coming from Bemanevika mine that was estimated to have a remaining life of 15 years ( Rahaga, 2009 ), establishes Madagascar as the world
