Conversion of chromium(III) propionate to chromium(VI) by the Advanced Oxidation ProcessPretreatment of a biomimetic complex for metal analysis [PDF]

open access: yesTalanta, 2006
The use of H(2)O(2) and UV irradiation to remove organic ligands in a chromium(III) complex for the subsequent chromium analysis is reported. The Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) using a 5.5-W UV lamp, H(2)O(2) and Fe(2+)/Fe(3+) as catalyst (photo Fenton process) was found to give complete and quantitative Cr(III)-->Cr(VI) conversion and removal of ...

Effects of Chromium Propionate on Response to an Intravenous Glucose Tolerance Test in Growing Holstein Heifers [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 2007
To test the effect of chromium propionate on glucose utilization in growing dairy heifers, 0, 5, 10, or 15 mg of chromium/d were fed to 20 Holstein heifers of 11 to 14 mo of age, in a replicated Latin square. A 2-wk adaptation period was followed by 4 periods of 2 wk each with a 2-wk flush out period between treatments.

Dietary Chromium Propionate Combined with Yeast Minimally Affects Growth Performance and Carcass Traits of Finishing Steers

open access: yes, 2015
Chromium (Cr) is an essential micromineral that serves to increase absorption of glucose from blood by potentiating the action of insulin. The ability to increase glucose tolerance could lead to more efficient use of glucose and ultimately to improved ...

Influence of chromium source on plasma non-esterified fatty acid concentrations in growing-finishing pigs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A total of 150 pigs (PIC, initial body weight 178.9 ± 14.7 lb) were used in a 35-d study to evaluate the effect of chromium propionate and chromium tripicolinate on plasma non-esterifed fatty acids (NEFA) in growing-finishing pigs.

From hydrogels to eutectogels: Emerging platforms for stretchable electronics

open access: yesFlexMat, EarlyView.
The transition of wearable electronics toward long‐term reliability requires materials that resist dehydration without sacrificing tissue‐like softness and ionic conductivity. Eutectogels fulfill these demands by immobilizing deep eutectic solvents within tailored polymer networks.

The geometrical isomers of oxalato and malonato-(ethylenediamine-N,N’-di-S,S-2-propionato)-chromate [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2005
Three octahedral chromium(III) complexes of the general formula Na[Cr(S,S-eddp)L]·2H2O, where eddp = the tetradentate O–N–N–O-type ligand ethylenediamine-N,N’-di-S,S-2-propionate and L = a bidentate O–O-type ligand, either oxalate or malonate, were ...

Corticosteroid Exposure in Chronic Rhinosinusitis and Global Airway Disease: Adrenal and Bone Impact

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To investigate cumulative corticosteroid (CC) burden in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP), with or without coexisting asthma (global airway disease, GAD), referred for biologic treatment, and to assess the prevalence of CC‐related comorbidities, including secondary adrenal insufficiency, osteopenia and ...
