Use of research‐grade radioisotopes for in‐human recovery and survival studies

Transfusion
Red blood cells (RBCs) and platelets are evaluated for in vivo quality using recovery and survival measurements in healthy volunteers. Radiolabeling is the standard method for tracking blood cells post‐transfusion.

Use of the chromium radioisotope 51Cr to estimate blood loss through ingestion by Fasciola hepatica

Experimental Parasitology, 1963
Abstract Erythrocytes from guinea pigs and sheep were tagged with the chromium radioisotope 51 Cr and were then restored to the circulating blood. Some 2 hours later the animals were killed, and samples were taken of blood, bile and liver flukes ( Fasciola hepatica ). Radioactivity was measured in a well-type scintillation counter.

Radioisotope method for monitoring the level of wear for protective coatings made from chromium and aluminum on gas turbine blades

Measurement Techniques, 2006
A radioisotope method is given for estimating the level of wear for protective coatings made from Al and Cr on gas turbine blades based on measuring the thickness of a coating that may change as a result of oxidation. A two-channel measuring system is developed making it possible to perform rapid analysis.
