The Yangtze Estuary is heavily influenced by coast-continent geochemical processes and anthropogenic activity; thus, the source and distribution of chromophoric dissolved organic matter (CDOM) in the estuary are strongly impacted by these processes. Here, a series of samples were collected from across the Yangtze Estuary to investigate the source and ...

Contribution of ferric iron to light absorption by chromophoric dissolved organic matter
Limnology and Oceanography, 2013This study experimentally determined the contribution of ferric iron (Fe(III)) associated with humic substances (HS) to light absorption by chromophoric dissolved organic matter (CDOM). The associations between Fe(III) and HS (HS‐Fe) were generated by mixing HS standards with Fe(III) in acidic conditions and adjusting pH to 8.

Chromophoric Dissolved Organic Matter Fluctuation Assessment in an Urban River
CLEAN – Soil, Air, Water, 2015AbstractTo investigate the compositions and spatio‐temporal changes of chromophoric dissolved organic matter (CDOM) in a typical urban river in Taihu Basin, China, that has been treated with series of water quality mitigation measures, 180 water samples were collected from November 2011 to October 2012 and analyzed with fluorescence excitation–emission

Production of chromophoric dissolved organic matter by Sargasso Sea microbes
Marine Chemistry, 2004Abstract Time series of chromophoric dissolved organic matter (CDOM) light absorption coefficients indicate a local origin for a large fraction of the CDOM in the upper water column of the Sargasso Sea. In the present study, we demonstrate that CDOM is produced in bacterial culture experiments using Sargasso Sea water and naturally occurring ...

Size characteristics of chromophoric dissolved organic matter in the Chukchi Sea
Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, 2016AbstractWith the Arctic warming, terrestrial input plays a more important role in carbon cycle in the Arctic Ocean than before. Chromophoric dissolved organic matter (CDOM) as a tracer of terrestrial dissolved organic matter (tDOM) becomes more valuable in elucidating the source and compositions of DOM.
