PTBP1 enforces ATR-CHK1 signaling determining the potency of CDC7 inhibitors
Summary: CDC7 kinase is crucial for DNA replication initiation and fork processing. CDC7 inhibition mildly activates the ATR pathway, which further limits origin firing; however, to date the relationship between CDC7 and ATR remains controversial.

A Geometric Approach For Fully Automatic Chromosome Segmentation [PDF]
A fundamental task in human chromosome analysis is chromosome segmentation. Segmentation plays an important role in chromosome karyotyping. The first step in segmentation is to remove intrusive objects such as stain debris and other noises. The next step is detection of touching and overlapping chromosomes, and the final step is separation of such ...

An evaluation of genotyping by sequencing (GBS) to map the Breviaristatum-e (ari-e) locus in cultivated barley [PDF]
: We explored the use of genotyping by sequencing (GBS) on a recombinant inbred line population (GPMx) derived from a cross between the two-rowed barley cultivar ‘Golden Promise’ (ari-e.GP/Vrs1) and the six-rowed cultivar ‘Morex’ (Ari-e/vrs1) to map ...

Natural selection on human Y chromosomes [PDF]
The paternally inherited Y chromosome has been widely used in population genetic studies to understand relationships among human populations. Our interpretation of Y chromosomal evidence about population history and genetics has rested on the assumption that all the Y chromosomal markers in the male-specific region (MSY) are selectively neutral ...

Detection of chromosome aberrations in metaphase and interphase tumor cells by in situ hybridization using chromosome-specific library probes [PDF]
Chromosome aberrations in two glioma cell lines were analyzed using biotinylated DNA library probes that specifically decorate chromosomes 1, 4, 7, 18 and 22 from pter to qter.

Statistical properties of DNA sequences revisited: the role of inverse bilateral symmetry in bacterial chromosomes [PDF]
Herein it is shown that in order to study the statistical properties of DNA sequences in bacterial chromosomes it suffices to consider only one half of the chromosome because they are similar to its corresponding complementary sequence in the other half. This is due to the inverse bilateral symmetry of bacterial chromosomes.

A tandem duplication within the fibrillin 1 gene is associated with the mouse tight skin mutation. [PDF]
Mice carrying the Tight skin (Tsk) mutation have thickened skin and visceral fibrosis resulting from an accumulation of extracellular matrix molecules.

Depletion of ATP-citrate lyase (ATPCL) affects chromosome integrity without altering histone acetylation in Drosophila mitotic cells [PDF]
The Citrate Lyase (ACL) is the main cytosolic enzyme that converts the citrate exported from mitochondria by the SLC25A1 carrier in Acetyl Coenzyme A (acetyl-CoA) and oxaloacetate.
