[The human genome--chromosome Y].

Casopis lekaru ceskych, 1996
The Y chromosome, the only chromosome present only in the male karyotype, is one of the smallest human chromosomes. Its content of protein-forming genes is, as compared with other chromosomes, greatly reduced and if we omit the part homologous with the X chromosome it is really minimal.

Homoeologic aberrations in human and chimpanzee Y chromosomes: inverted and satellited Y chromosomes

Cytogenetic and Genome Research, 1988
An inverted and a satellited Y chromosome detected in peripheral blood lymphocytes of a chimpanzee and a pygmy chimpanzee, respectively, were characterized cytogenetically by various banding techniques. A detailed comparison with an inverted and a satellited Y chromosome in man suggested that the corresponding aberrations were homoeologic.

The Human Y Chromosome and Male Infertility

2000
Although most of the human Y does not normally recombine with the X chromosome, there are two limited regions of sequence identity with the X that permit pairing and recombination during male meiosis (see Rappold 1993). These are the pseudoautosomal regions located at the distal portions of the short and long arms of the Y chromosome.
