Determining the Magnetic Field of Active Region Plages Using the Whole CLASP2/2.1 Spectral Window

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The Chromospheric LAyer SpectroPolarimeter missions, CLASP2 and CLASP2.1, demonstrated that the near-UV spectral region between 279.30 and 280.68 nm is suitable for studying the magnetism of the solar chromosphere.

Solar Flare Ribbon Fronts. II. Evolution of Heating Rates in Individual Flare Footpoints

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Solar flare ribbon fronts appear ahead of the bright structures that normally characterize solar flares, and can persist for an extended period of time in spatially localized patches before transitioning to “regular” bright ribbons. They likely represent

Solar Chromospheric Heating by Magnetohydrodynamic Waves: Dependence on the Inclination of the Magnetic Field

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
A proposed mechanism for solar chromospheric heating is magnetohydrodynamic waves propagating upward along magnetic field lines and dissipating their energy in the chromosphere.

Turbulence in the Chromosphere

open access: yesPublications of the Astronomical Society of Japan, 1962
Abstract Turbulence velocities in the chromosphere were determined from the base up to 10,000 km. Measurement was made on flash spectrograms of 1958 eclipse in South Pacific. The dispersion was about 2.3 A/mm and the resolution in terms of velocity was 2–3 km/sec in most probable velocity ξ0.

Constraints on Acoustic Wave Energy Fluxes and Radiative Losses in the Solar Chromosphere from Non-LTE Inversions

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Accurately assessing the balance between acoustic wave energy fluxes and radiative losses is critical for understanding how the solar chromosphere is thermally regulated.

Calcium Bright Knots and the Formation of Chromospheric Anemone Jets on the Sun

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Space-based observations show that the solar atmosphere from the solar chromosphere to the solar corona is filled with small-scale jets and is linked with small-scale explosions.
