The Presence of Microorganisms in the Granulomatous Tissue of Chronic Periapical Lesions

open access: yesČeská Stomatologie a Praktické Zubní Lékařství, 2011
Apical periodontitis is a sequel to endodontic infection and manifests itself as the host defense response to microbial challenge emanating from the root canal system to the periapical tissue. It is viewed as a dynamic encounter between microbial factors

Twenty‐four month clinical outcomes of modified coronally advanced tunnel technique with leukocyte‐ and platelet‐rich fibrin–functionalized porcine dermal matrix for single/multiple gingival recessions

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background To report 24‐month clinical and 3D outcomes of single and multiple RT1 and RT2 gingival recessions treated with the modified coronally advanced tunnel (MCAT) technique and an L‐PRF‐functionalized porcine dermal matrix (PDM), as long‐term data on PDM in root coverage are scarce.

Microorganisms Associated with Chronic Apical Periodontitis

open access: yesBulletin of Science and Practice
The key microorganisms involved in the pathogenesis of chronic apical periodontitis, their role in the development of the disease and their influence on the choice of therapeutic and diagnostic measures are considered. Enterococcus faecalis is the most resistant to antimicrobial drugs and can survive in root canals even after drug treatment.

The effect of bioactive membrane in alveolar ridge preservation: A double‐blind randomized clinical trial

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background This randomized controlled trial aims to evaluate alveolar ridge preservation (ARP) with or without a biologically active amnion–chorion membrane (BACM). Methods Thirty patients requiring tooth extraction in the esthetic zone were randomly assigned to 2 groups.

Functional tooth unit, periodontal status, and association with weight change in older adults

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Literature reports that having fewer teeth is associated with reduced chewing capacity, which in turn may lead to weight changes due to diminished oral functionality. This study aims to assess the association between functional tooth units (FTU) and periodontal status and weight change among older adults participating in the Health,

Usability of a deep learning platform for detecting radiographic bone loss and furcation involvement

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Assessing radiographic bone condition is important for periodontal diagnosis. The accuracy of radiographic interpretation depends highly on a clinician's experience and knowledge. This study aimed to develop a deep learning‐based online platform that aids clinicians in diagnosing periodontitis based on periapical radiographs and to ...

Dasatinib and quercetin prevent alveolar bone loss in aged mice

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Recent findings have associated alveolar bone loss (ABL) with the presence of senescent cells. Aging and the accumulation of senescent cells are associated with a pro‐inflammatory environment which may exacerbate tissue damage.

Impact of abrasive versus non‐abrasive cleaning on peri‐implantitis titanium release: A randomized clinical trial

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Surface decontamination is integral to peri‐implantitis treatment. However, abrasive mechanical methods can cause implant surface degradation with possible adverse biological effects. No human studies have examined whether these treatments cause titanium release or impair regenerative outcomes.

Аssessment of the activity of chronic apical periodontitis current with use of a complex apical index

open access: yes, 2013
