Determination of CD64 for the Diagnosis of Bacterial Chronic Prostatitis
American Journal of Reproductive Immunology, 2015ProblemCD64 is a 72‐kDa transmembrane glycoprotein, the highest affinity receptor of immunoglobulin (IgG), and a member of the IgG superfamily. The CD64 expression by leukocytes in the prostatic fluid was determined by flow cytometry to explore the clinical significance of this glycoprotein in the diagnosis of chronic prostatitis (CP).Method of ...

The role of quinolones in the treatment of chronic bacterial prostatitis
Infection, 1991Chronic bacterial prostatitis is a rare infection but difficult to treat. Usually co-trimoxazole has been used, yet with poor results. Because of their favorable pharmacokinetics and their broad antibacterial spectrum, the newer quinolones may be a good alternative.

Pathogenesis of Chronic Bacterial Prostatitis in an Animal Model
British Journal of Urology, 1990Summary— A reproducible rat model of chronic bacterial prostatitis was developed using a defined bacterial pathogen (Escherichia coli) to study the pathogenesis and persistence of chronic bacterial prostatitis. The progression of inflammation and its consequences from acute to chronic prostatitis were documented with microbiological, histological ...

In Loco Antibiotics in Chronic Bacterial Prostatitis
1994Chronic bacterial prostatitis (CBP) is a rare pathological entity. Bacterial prostatitis is the most difficult form to treat. Many efforts have been made to find a way of curing this disease: long-term antibiotics, suppressive regimes of antibiotics, and surgical treatment with transurethral resection.

A Re-Appraisal of Treatment in Chronic Bacterial Prostatitis
Journal of Urology, 1979The pH of normal human expressed prostatic secretion in 136 samples from 93 men was 7.28 +/- 0.04. In 41 samples from 14 patients with documented chronic bacterial prostatitis the alkalinity of prostatic fluid was increased 10-fold (1 pH unit) and was 8.32 +/- 0.07.

Preventive effect of selenium on chronic bacterial prostatitis
Journal of Infection and Chemotherapy, 2012The antibiotic treatment rate of chronic bacterial prostatitis (CBP) is low, and long-term administration can result in adverse events and bacterial resistance. For these reasons, a new preventive modality, which can replace traditional antibiotic therapy, is required.

Radical Prostatectomy for Chronic Bacterial Prostatitis
1994Only few reports have dealt with indications for total prostatovesiculectomy in chronic prostatitis. Although prostatectomy for specific granulomatous prostatitis by syphilis or tuberculosis has been performed for years (Nesbit and Lynn 1949) and may still be indicated in some cases, the indication for surgery in nonspecific granulomatous prostatitis ...

An assessment of temafloxacin in the treatment of chronic bacterial prostatitis
Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, 1991Based on its in-vitro activity against the majority of organisms associated with bacterial prostatitis and its excellent penetration into prostatic tissue, prostatic secretions and seminal fluid, temafloxacin appears to be a suitable agent for the treatment of prostatic infections.

Treatment of chronic bacterial prostatitis by local injection of antibiotics into prostate
Urology, 1983Experiences with localized antibiotic treatment of chronic bacterial prostatitis by direct injection into the caudal prostate is presented. Very high antibiotic levels are found in the prostatic fluid without correlation with the time after injection.
