Acute and Chronic Cholecystitis
Surgical Clinics of North America, 1981The combination of chemical irritants and cystic duct occlusion by either gallstones, mucus, or inflammation, appears to be responsible for the development of acute and chronic cholecystitis in most cases. Once the diagnosis of acute cholecystitis is established, early cholecystectomy is usually recommended.

Investigative Radiology, 1987
To define the optimal diagnostic approach for suspected chronic cholecystitis comprehensive management strategies were developed. Cholescintigraphy in acute and chronic cholecystitis
Seminars in Nuclear Medicine, 1982Since the introduction of technetium-99m-labeled cholescintigraphic agents in the mid-1970s, there has been extensive investigation of their role in the evaluation of biliary tract disorders. These agents accurately assess the patency of the cystic and common bile ducts, and to date, their greatest impact has been on the diagnostic evaluation of ...

Surgery for Acute and Chronic Cholecystitis
Surgical Clinics of North America, 1990Cholecystostomy and cholecystectomy remain appropriate and effective therapy for acute and chronic cholecystitis. Cholecystectomy is the gold standard against which all alternative methods of treatment of inflammatory biliary stone disease should be judged. The pathogenesis, diagnosis, and surgical treatment of acute and chronic cholecystitis have been
