Event‐Driven Elongation Monitor for Soft Devices Using a Deformation‐Activated Piezoconductive Switch

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A stretchable, event‐driven strain sensor with low energy consumption is developed using positive piezoconductive composites. These composites remain insulative when relaxed, while they become conductive when stretched. Their electrical characteristics are modifiable by the nickel's weight ratio and cross‐sectional geometry. Strain‐induced switching is

3D‐Printed Mixed Ionic‐Electronic Conductive Polymer Composites for Long‐Term Bioelectronic Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates a formulation of polymer ink for 3D‐printable, conformable ECG patches for long‐term heart monitoring. The resulting electrodes exhibit high signal fidelity and stability, rivaling metal‐based probes after extended ambient storage.

Nanomodification of Polyethylene via Focused Electron Beam Irradiation: Controlled Crazing and Application to Crack Arresting

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Focused electron beam (FEB) irradiation precisely modifies polyethylene (PE) at the nanoscale, resulting in controlled crazing characterized by microvoids and microfibrils. Additionally, the technique can be applied for crack arrest under tensile stress.

When Cellulose Moves: Smart Sensors and Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review highlights cellulose‐derived soft actuators alongside with cellulose‐based sensors. Emphasis is placed on their integration into multifunctional devices that couple sensing and actuation to mimic natural motion and adaptability. We also discuss the challenges of achieving robust, reversible, and multi‐stimuli‐responsive motion, and outline ...
