Immunoglobulins in chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy

Neurological Sciences, 2003
This article reviews the efficacy and tolerability of intravenous immunoglobulins (IVIg) in chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP), including those forms associated with monoclonal gammopathy (paraproteinemic demyelinating neuropathy, PDN). Class I trials demonstrated that IVIg are effective in CIDP.

Treatment of chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy

Expert Review of Neurotherapeutics, 2003
Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy is a neuromuscular disorder for which immunological factors are undoubtedly important in the etiopathogenesis. As clinical recognition of this disorder has improved, immunosuppressive and immunomodulating treatments have emerged as the treatments of choice and the prognosis for patients with ...

Treatment of chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy

Current Opinion in Neurology, 2004
Chronic inflammatory demyelinating poly(radiculo)neuropathy (CIDP) is a treatable disorder. There are three proven effective treatments available. Randomized controlled trials have only focused on short-term effects, but most patients need long-term therapy. The most up-to-date treatment options are discussed.

Treatment of chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy

The Italian Journal of Neurological Sciences, 1998
The management of chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) is the main topic of this review. A few comments will also be made about treatment of the demyelinating form of paraproteinaemic demyelinating polyneuropathy (PDN) and of multifocal motor neuropathy (MMN).

Treatment of Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy

Current Neurology and Neuroscience Reports, 2015
Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) is one of the acquired demyelinating neuropathies and is considered to be immune mediated. Diagnosis is typically based on clinical history, neurologic examination, electrophysiologic studies, CSF studies, and pathologic examination.

Treatment of Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy

Current Treatment Options in Neurology, 2010
Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) is an acquired, immune-mediated, non-length-dependent polyradiculoneuropathy that is progressive or relapsing over a period of at least 8 weeks, often evolving over time to a relatively symmetric pattern.

Atypical chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathies

Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery & Psychiatry, 2018
Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) is an immune-mediated neuropathy progressive for more than 2 months, including several clinical subtypes.1 2 In 1975, Dyck et al 3 described the classical prototype of CIDP, and emphasised that a prominent clinical feature is weakness of the proximal and distal muscles about equally which is very

Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP)

Acta Neurologica Scandinavica, 2012
Chronic immune-mediated demyelinating polyneuropathies can often lead to severe neurologic disability.Literature review and personal experience with these types of neuropathies. It is important to recognize these immune-mediated neuropathies as they respond to treatment.

Electrophysiology in chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy with IGIV

Muscle & Nerve, 2009
AbstractPatients with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) received immune globulin intravenous, 10% caprylate/chromatography purified (IGIV‐C, Gamunex; n = 59) or placebo (n = 58) every 3 weeks for up to 24 weeks (first period) in a randomized, double‐blind, parallel‐group, response‐conditional, crossover study.

Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy and Variants

Neurologic Clinics
Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) is the prototypic chronic inflammatory polyneuropathy, characterized by well-defined clinical and electrodiagnostic criteria, despite the absence of biomarkers or full understanding of disease pathogenesis. It has both a typical form and 5 variants.
