Endovascular Therapy for Chronic Mesenteric Ischemia
Current Treatment Options in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2016Chronic mesenteric ischemia (CMI) most commonly occurs as a consequence of multivessel atherosclerotic disease of the mesenteric vasculature. Risk factors include smoking, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and advanced age, and women are more commonly affected than men.

BYPASS GRAFTING FOR CHRONIC MESENTERIC ISCHEMIA
Surgical Clinics of North America, 1997A critical analysis of the literature suggests that there is no clearly superior technique for mesenteric revascularization and that the choice of operation must be individualized. Bypass grafting using either an antegrade or retrograde technique with prosthetic or autogenous conduits should produce excellent long-term results for most patients with ...

Mesenteric Ischemia in Chronic Dialysis Patients
American Journal of Nephrology, 20086 chronic dialysis patients with acute mesenteric ischemia are described. 3 had nonocclusive infarctions, and 3 had occlusive disease. 5 of the patients had episodes of severe hypotension or hypovolemia immediately before the onset of abdominal symptoms.

Management of chronic atherosclerotic mesenteric ischemia
Vasa, 2011Chronic mesenteric ischemia (CMI) is most likely caused by atherosclerosis and less frequently by external compression, fibromuscular dysplasia and vasculitis. Symptomatic CMI is an uncommon, potentially under-diagnosed condition caused by fixed stenoses or occlusion of in most conditions at least two visceral arteries.

Endovascular Management of Chronic Mesenteric Ischemia
Techniques in Vascular and Interventional Radiology, 2004Chronic mesenteric ischemia is a rare condition caused by occlusive disease of the mesenteric vessels. While the traditional therapy in symptomatic patients has been surgery, recent advances in interventional devices and techniques have made endovascular treatment feasible and effective.

[Chronic mesenteric ischemia].
Deutsche medizinische Wochenschrift (1946), 1994Thirty-four patients (twelve men, 22 women, mean age 53[16-71] years) with chronic mesenteric ischaemia were operated upon between 1979 and 1992. The most frequent symptom was loss of weight (50%) and postprandial pain (44%). The mean interval between onset of symptoms and diagnosis was 35 months.

Chronic mesenteric ischemia and therapeutic paradigm of mesenteric revascularization
Indian Journal of Gastroenterology, 2013Chronic mesenteric ischemia is a life-threatening clinical problem resulting in death from inanition and/or bowel infarction, if left untreated, albeit low disease prevalence. Typical presentation is postprandial abdominal pain, severe weight loss, and altered bowel habit.

Chronic Mesenteric Ischemia: Diagnosis and Management
Progress in Cardiovascular Diseases, 2011Chronic mesenteric ischemia (CMI) is the most common vascular disorder involving the intestines, however it is unusual in clinical practice. The redundancy of the visceral circulation with multiple interconnections between the superior mesenteric artery (SMA) and the inferior mesenteric artery (IMA) is the most likely explanation for the infrequent ...

Extra-Anatomic Axillo–Mesenteric Reconstruction for Chronic Mesenteric Ischemia
Annals of Vascular Surgery, 2016We present a case of extra-anatomic axillo-mesenteric reconstruction for chronic mesenteric ischemia. Endovascular access and retrograde bypass options were prohibited by severe aortoiliac occlusive disease. Standard antegrade bypass was impossible because of the presence of a thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm.
