Vascular expansion in chronic periodontitis
Journal of Oral Pathology & Medicine, 1991Animal studies have demonstrated expansion and remodelling of gingival blood vessels in inflamed gingival tissues. However, there is a paucity of information, regarding the vascular response in human gingivitis and periodontitis. In this study, gingival biopsies were obtained from 51 separate patients.

Chronic periodontitis and implant dentistry
Periodontology 2000, 2017AbstractDental implants are regularly placed in patients with a history of periodontitis, even though peri‐implant tissues are susceptible to the same host‐modulated plaque‐induced factors that initiate and sustain periodontitis. This article endeavors to clarify the evidence regarding the history of periodontitis as a risk factor for implant success ...

The term periodontal refers to any of the bony and soft tissues that support the teeth. Diseases of these supporting tissues affect the majority of the adult population throughout the world and are the major cause of loss of teeth in adults. Consensus Report: Chronic Periodontitis
Annals of Periodontology, 1999It may affect a variable number of teeth and it has variable rates of progression. Chronic periodontitis is initiated and sustained by bacterial plaque, but host defense mechanisms play an integral role in its pathogenesis. The progressive nature of the disease can only be confirmed by repeated examinations.

Periodontal status associated with chronic neutropenia
Journal of Clinical Periodontology, 1983Abstract. A case of chronic neutropenia in a 12‐year‐old boy is reported. The patient presented with severe gingival inflammation and alveolar bone loss, Immunologic analysis of the patient's serum revealed the presence of precipitating antibodies against antigenic components of Actinobacillus actinamycetemcomitans Y4 and 652.

Gingival Matrix Collagen in Chronic Periodontitis
Journal of Dental Research, 1980The isolation and characterization of cyanogen bromide peptides derived from the human gingival collagen of patients with chronic periodontitis revealed the presence of both Type I and Type III collagens in this tissue. The amount of Type III collagen, however, was found to be lower than that in normal gingival tissue.

Leukocyte receptor expression in chronic periodontitis
Clinical Oral Investigations, 2016Microbial recognition in the periodontium through specific leukocyte receptors gives rise to the response which in susceptible individuals can lead to periodontal diseases. The aim of this study was to explore the expression of leukocyte receptors in the gingival tissues of chronic periodontitis patients and to analyse differences between diseased and ...

Ghrelin levels in chronic periodontitis patients
Odontology, 2013Ghrelin is a peptide hormone that has modulatory effects on the immune system. This study was designed to evaluate plasma ghrelin levels in patients with chronic periodontitis and to investigate if a relationship exists between ghrelin and periodontal parameters, serum cytokines, and bone turnover markers. Thirty-five chronic periodontitis patients (CP)
