Surgical treatment of chronic parotid sialadenitis
To review the results of surgical management of chronic parotid sialadenitis refractory to medical therapy, with particular respect to long-term symptom resolution and development of post-operative complications.A retrospective review of parotidectomies performed for chronic intractable parotid sialadenitis. Information was collected about presentation,

Morphological evidence of biofilm in chronic obstructive sialadenitis
AbstractObjectiveBacterial infection is a common finding in acute sialadenitis and may play a role in the chronicity of the condition. This study investigated if bacterial biofilm is present in submandibular chronic obstructive sialadenitis.MethodsA descriptive case–control study was conducted that compared 10 histological sections of submandibular ...

Treatment of chronic sialadenitis by intraductal penicillin or saline
We sought to describe the treatment of chronic sialadenitis by intraductal penicillin or saline. The study group consisted of 32 males and 23 females with chronic submandibular sialadenitis aged 12 to 65 years and 16 males and 11 females with chronic parotitis aged 8 to 65 years who were treated by intraductal instillation of penicillin or saline. In the

Endoscopic‐assisted management of chronic sialadenitis
Head and Neck, 2011AbstractBackgroundChronic sialadenitis is a relatively common disorder that is frequently referred to head and neck surgeons for diagnosis and management. The management of the disorder is rapidly evolving with the introduction of salivary endoscopy. The purpose of the present study was a review of the indications and techniques of endoscopic‐assisted ...

Immunoprofile of Kuttner Tumor (Chronic Sclerosing Sialadenitis)
In the present study, the immunoprofile of chronic sclerosing sialadenitis, also known as Kuttner tumor, was analyzed. Two cases that occurred in the submandibular gland of male patients were submitted to immunohistochemical reactions to different antibodies.

Chronic obstructive sialadenitis
Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, 1971Abstract Conservative treatment of sialodochitis and ductal perforation is described. In this particular case, sialograms showed areas of stenosis in the right Wharton's duct near the gland hilus and an extravasation phenomenon caused by ductal perforation at the point where the duct curved over the posterior border of the mylohyoid muscle.

The cellular changes in salivary gland parenchyma with chronic inflammation were studied immunocytochemically with a panel of antibodies. Myoepithelial cells were labelled with antimyosin, duct cells with a polyclonal anti-callus prekeratin, a monoclonal anti-keratin CAM 5.2 and a monoclonal anti-keratin 7 (RPN 1162), and a subpopulation of basal duct ...

Parotidectomy in the treatment of chronic sialadenitis
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1961Abstract A series of twenty-nine cases is presented in which thirty parotidectomies were performed for recurrent chronic sialadenitis. The results during the follow-up period have been excellent, except in one case in which subtotal parotidectomy had been performed and a recurrence developed five months later.

Subtotal Parotidectomy in the Treatment of Chronic Sialadenitis
Annals of Plastic Surgery, 1983Chronic recurrent parotitis can be disabling, and often requires surgery for its resolution. Twenty-one patients with chronic sialadenitis treated by subtotal parotidectomy were studied. Two patients developed transient and one significant postoperative recurrent parotitis, and two patients had salivary fistulas.
