Catheterization and cardiovascular interventions, 2020
Percutaneous recanalization of coronary chronic total occlusions (CTOs) traditionally relies on the use of dual‐access and large bore catheters, with trans‐femoral approach adoption in most cases.

Retrograde algorithm for chronic total occlusion from the Asia Pacific Chronic Total Occlusion club
AsiaIntervention, 2018Retrograde CTO PCI is an effective method to improve the success rate of CTO PCI. Despite several comprehensive and detailed descriptive papers on the retrograde techniques, retrograde CTO PCI remains difficult for many interventionists. We, the Asia Pacific CTO club, propose a new retrograde CTO PCI algorithm, which focuses on three specific problems ...

During chronic total occlusion (CTO) percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), sometimes non-CTO lesions are also treated. We compared the clinical and procedural characteristics and outcomes of CTO PCIs with and without concomitant treatment of a non-CTO lesion in a contemporary multicenter CTO registry.Of the 3598 CTO PCIs performed at 21 centers ...

Chronic total occlusions (CTOs) remain the most technically challenging and time-consuming subset of coronary artery lesions to treat with percutaneous intervention (PCI). Particular difficulties may be encountered in crossing and dilating the lesion, whilst the rates of restenosis are higher than other lesions even after successful PCI.
