Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease Exacerbates the Advancement of Renal Fibrosis by Modulating Renal CCR2+PIRB+ Macrophages Through the ANGPTL8/PIRB/ALOX5AP Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The ANGPTL8/PIRB/ALOX5AP axis mediates liver‐kidney crosstalk. Hepatocytes secrete ANGPTL8, which binds to CCR2+PIRB+ macrophages in the kidneys, affecting the expression of ALOX5AP and enhancing the activation of these macrophages. Activated cells produce TGF‐β, IL‐6, and IL‐23, driving Th17 activation and promote the formation of myofibroblasts ...

Development of Age‐ and Sex‐Specific Metabolomics‐Based Biological Ageing Clocks for 10‐Year Mortality Prediction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Metabolomics‐based ageing clocks developed using blood biomarkers from over 215 000 European adults, improved the prediction of 10‐year all‐cause mortality compared to traditional models. Biological age acceleration is associated with higher mortality risk, as each additional year of metabolic age corresponded to at least 8% increased risk. These tools

Single‐Cell Insights Into Macrophage Subtypes in Pulmonary Infections

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review highlights the dynamic plasticity of macrophages during pulmonary infections and proposes an integrative framework defining six functional subtypes: Inflam‐Ms, Hub‐Ms, Reg‐Ms, Prolif‐Ms, Memory‐Ms, and Senesc‐Ms. Single‐cell omics delineate their distinct roles in homeostasis and infection, refining our understanding of macrophage ...

Nasal Mucosa‐Derived Extracellular Vesicles as a Systemic Antiaging Intervention

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows that nasal mucosa‐derived extracellular vesicles (nmEVs) exert systemic anti‐ageing effects in mice by restoring circadian rhythm, suppressing cellular senescence, and improving cognitive function. In aged human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells, nmEVs reverse senescence‐associated phenotypes and reactivate core clock gene expression.

A case for a place for Yāska’s Nirukta in inclusive global histories of Technology, Science, Gender Equality in Inheritance and an argument of consequence to the chronology of some Smṛti texts

open access: yesPrachi Prajna, 2020
Which text contains the earliest attestation of the use of technology to harness Sun's energy to light a fire? Is there an implication of translating kaṃsaḥ as white copper for the global history of metallurgy? Which is the oldest attestation of at least

Pre‐Existing Th1 Immunity Outperforms Age in Predicting Antibody Responses to SARS‐CoV‐2 Inactivated Vaccines

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Challenging the focus on age, this study finds pre‐existing T helper 1 cells are the key biomarker for predicting antibody response to SARS‐CoV‐2 inactivated vaccines. In both mice and humans, high responders exhibited elevated baseline T helper 1 cells, which correlated with robust humoral immunity, offering crucial guidance for improving vaccine ...
