The Mitochondrial Guardian α‐Amyrin Mitigates Alzheimer's Disease Pathology via Modulation of the DLK‐SARM1‐ULK1 Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dietary habits play a key role in chronic diseases, and higher annual consumption of fruit and vegetable may lower risk of dementia. Artificial intelligence predicts the lipid‐like compound α‐Amyrin (αA) from plants with edible peels as a drug candidate against Alzheimer's disease.

The boundary of the chronology violating set

open access: yes, 2016
A sufficiently general definition for the future and past boundaries of the chronology violating region is given. In comparison to previous studies, this work does not assume that the complement of the chronology violating set is globally hyperbolic. The

The WAIS Divide deep ice core WD2014 chronology – Part 1: Methane synchronization (68–31 ka BP) and the gas age–ice age difference

open access: yes, 2014
. The West Antarctic Ice Sheet Divide (WAIS Divide, WD) ice core is a newly drilled, high-accumulation deep ice core that provides Antarctic climate records of the past ∼68 ka at unprecedented temporal resolution.

Conversion of Transplanted Mature Hepatocytes into Afp+ Reprogrammed Cells for Liver Regeneration After Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Donor‐derived tdTomato+ mature hepatocytes were FACS‐isolated and transplanted into Fah−/− host mice. During regeneration, these cells convert into proliferative, unipotent Afp+ rHeps. Their plasticity is governed by a PPARγ/AFP‐dependent metabolic switch, segregating into pro‐proliferative Afplow and pro‐survival Afphigh subpopulations.

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SOLAR AND VOLCANIC ACTIVITY AND THE CHRONOLOGY OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL CULTURES OF EURASIA IN THE 4TH–1ST MILLENNIA BC

open access: yesJournal of Ancient History and Archaeology
A well-known problem of archaeological chronology is that radiocarbon chronology differs from historical chronology. Historical chronology of the Bronze Age corresponds to dendrochronology and radiocarbon chronology in case of using Bayesian statistics ...

Chronology protection in stationary three-dimensional spacetimes

open access: yes, 2011
We study chronology protection in stationary, rotationally symmetric spacetimes in 2+1 dimensional gravity, focusing especially on the case of negative cosmological constant.

The Antarctic ice core chronology (AICC2012): an optimized multi-parameter and multi-site dating approach for the last 120 thousand years

open access: yes, 2012
. The deep polar ice cores provide reference records commonly employed in global correlation of past climate events. However, temporal divergences reaching up to several thousand years (ka) exist between ice cores over the last climatic cycle.

Dead Matter, Living Machines: Repurposing Crustaceans' Abdomen Exoskeleton for Bio‐Hybrid Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Crustacean exoskeletons, repurposed from food waste, are engineered into sustainable bending actuators combining biotic structure with synthetic control. The augmented exoskeletons achieve rapid and robust motion with lightweight body and can be used as part of robotic manipulators, grippers and swimmers.

Impacts of storm chronology on the morphological changes of the Formby beach and dune system, UK

open access: yes, 2015
. Impacts of storm chronology within a storm cluster on beach/dune erosion are investigated by applying the state-of-the-art numerical model XBeach to the Sefton coast, northwest England.

Direct Observation of Electric‐Field‐Driven Phase Transitions Associated with Energy Storage in Antiferroelectric Films

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The electric‐field‐driven antiferroelectric‐to‐ferroelectric phase transition in epitaxial PbZrO3 films is directly visualized by in situ aberration‐corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy. A sequential transition pathway involving an orthorhombic ferrielectric phase and a monoclinic ferroelectric phase, ultimately stabilizing into a ...
