Evolving perspectives in Hymenoptera systematics: Bridging fossils and genomes across time

open access: yesSystematic Entomology, Volume 50, Issue 1, Page 1-31, January 2025.
Advances in sequencing and phylogenomic methods reveal unresolved deep phylogenetic nodes with variable age estimates in Hymenoptera, including, for example, Eusymphyta and Proctotrupomorpha. Conflicting morphological and molecular data hinder consensus in Hymenoptera systematics.

Insights from the first phylogenomic analysis of flat wasps (Hymenoptera, Bethylidae) reveal two new subfamilies

open access: yesCladistics, Volume 40, Issue 5, Page 510-525, October 2024.
Abstract Despite significant advances in alpha level taxonomy in the past few decades, the higher‐level phylogeny of flat wasps (Hymenoptera, Bethylidae) remains poorly explored. Herein we provide the first phylogenomic assessment of the family based on data from ultraconserved elements for 96 species in 61 genera of the family, with material from 29 ...

Revision of rock fossils of Dryinidae and Embolemidae (Hymenoptera: Chrysidoidea) [PDF]

open access: yesZootaxa, 2010
New fossil taxa of Embolemidae and Dryinidae (Hymenoptera: Chrysidoidea) are described. For Embolemidae, Embolemopsis baissensis n. gen. n. sp. and Baissobius minutus n. sp., are described from Central Siberia, West Transbaikalia, left bank of Vitim River (facing downstream), Baissa, lake deposits from earlier Early Cretaceous (Neocomian stage) (130 ...

Sclerogibbidae (Hymenoptera: Chrysidoidea), a new family record from Iran [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Insect Biodiversity and Systematics, 2017
In the present study, the family Sclerogibbidae (Hymenoptera, Chrysidoidea) is newly recorded for the Iranian insect fauna by several records of a single species, Sclerogibba talpiformis Benoit, 1950. The materialwas captured by a series of Malaise traps

A Catalogue of Dryinidae of Mozambique, with Description of a New Species(Hymenoptera: Chrysidoidea)

open access: yesAfrican Invertebrates, 2012
Anew species of Dryinidae, Gonatopus chiruanus, is described from Mozambique, Niassa Province, Mecanhelas District, Entre-Lagos. The male of Gonatopus bekilyanus (Benoit, 1954) is described for the first time. An updated checklist of Dryinidae of Mozambique is presented. With the above new records, 45 species of Dryinidae are now known from Mozambique.
