Optimization of a Phenylacetaldehyde-Based Attractant for Common Green Lacewings (Chrysoperla carnea s.l.)

Journal of Chemical Ecology, 2009
In field trapping tests, the catch of Chrysoperla carnea sensu lato (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae) increased when acetic acid was added to lures with phenylacetaldehyde. The addition of methyl salicylate to the binary mixture of phenylacetaldehyde plus acetic acid increased catches even further.

Predation capacity and prey preference of Chrysoperla carnea on Pieris brassicae

BioControl, 2009
The predation capacity and prey preference of larvae of Chrysoperlacarnea (Stephens) (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae) on eggs or larvae of Pieris brassicae (Linnaeus) (Lepidoptera: Pieridae) in the absence and presence of cabbage aphids as an alternative prey were evaluated in laboratory experiments at 25°C.

The importance of honeydew for larvae of Chrysoperla carnea when aphids are available.

Journal of Applied Entomology, 2008
Larvae of the common green lacewing Chrysoperla carnea are predacious and feed on a wide range of small soft bodied arthropods. In addition to their feeding on prey arthropods to cover their nutritional requirements for growth and development the consumption of non prey foods such as honeydew has been reported.

Comparing effects of insecticides on two green lacewings species, Chrysoperla johnsoni and Chrysoperla carnea (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae).

Journal of economic entomology, 2013
This study compared lethal and sublethal effects of five insecticides, chlorantraniliprole, cyantraniliprole, spinetoram, novaluron, and lambda-cyhalothrin, on adult and second instars of two green lacewing species, Chrysoperla carnea (Stephens) and Chrysoperla johnsoni Henry, Wells and Pupedis (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae) in the laboratory.

Advances in Mass Rearing of Chrysoperla carnea (Stephen) (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae)

2004
Rearing techniques for Chrysoperla carnea Stephen (Chrysopidae: Neuroptera) have been improved to have its mass rearing in laboratory and to make releases in fields in a very simple and economical way. In this technique hard gelatin capsules (500 mg) were used for larval rearing. Out of 100 test capsules, 140 pupae were recovered by this technique.
