ZmWRKY29 Transcriptionally Represses ZmRBOHC to Attenuate ROS Production and Facilitates Gibberella Stalk Rot Susceptibility in Maize

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 6, Page 4044-4060, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Gibberella stalk rot (GSR), caused by the fungal pathogen Fusarium graminearum, severely threatens maize production. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying maize resistance to GSR remain poorly understood. Here, we have identified ZmWRKY29 as a transcriptional repressor induced by F.

Phytohormonal and Transcriptomic Mechanisms of Multigenerational Stress Memory in Wheat Under Weed Competition

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 49, Issue 6, Page 3436-3454, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Multigenerational stress exposure induces stress memory in plants, influencing resource allocation, defence mechanisms, and productivity. Weed competition imposes both resource‐based (abiotic) and allelopathic (biotic) stress, engaging overlapping hormonal pathways.

Neuregulin‐1 Mitigates Kidney Injury in Humanized Sickle Cell Mice

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 10, 31 May 2026.
Compared with untreated sickle cell (HbSS) mice, neuregulin‐1 (NRG‐1) treatment reduced plasma heme, lactate dehydrogenase, and pro‐inflammatory cytokines while increasing the proportion of circulating F‐cells. NRG‐1 improved urinary biomarkers of kidney health, decreasing cystatin C and NGAL levels and increased renal repair markers clusterin and ...

Role of Future Climate Change, Air Pollution Control and Methane Mitigation in Driving Hydroxyl Radical (OH) and Methane Lifetime

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 9, 16 May 2026.
Abstract The hydroxyl radical (OH) determines the atmospheric lifetime of many pollutants like methane (CH4 ${\text{CH}}_{4}$). This study isolates climate change, air pollution control and CH4 ${\text{CH}}_{4}$ mitigation effects on OH concentrations ([OH]) and CH4 ${\text{CH}}_{4}$ lifetime, by analyzing Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6 (

Distinct Efficacy of Regional Methane Emissions in Affecting Global and Regional Concentrations: An Emission‐Driven CESM2 Modeling Study With Methane Tags

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 9, 16 May 2026.
Abstract The newly developed emission‐driven capability of CESM2 allows methane concentrations to be more realistically simulated based on emissions, transport, and atmospheric chemistry, rather than being prescribed as lower boundary conditions as in most previous global Earth system modeling studies.

The Cuttlebone Blueprint for Multifunctional Metamaterials: Design Taxonomy, Functional Decoupling, and Future Horizons

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 36, 4 May 2026.
Cuttlebone‐inspired metamaterials exploit a septum‐wall architecture to achieve excellent mechanical and functional properties. This review classifies existing designs into direct biomimetic, honeycomb‐type, and strut‐type architectures, summarizes governing design principles, and presents a decoupled design framework for interpreting multiphysical ...

Multibit Ferroelectric HfZrO Memcapacitor for Non‐Volatile Analogue Memory and Reconfigurable Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 37, 7 May 2026.
Ferroelectric memcapacitors enable non‐volatile, voltage‐programmable capacitance tuning for adaptive electronics. A TiN/HfZrO/TiN device stack demonstrates more than eight stable capacitance states within a 24 pF memory window in compact 60 ×$\times$ 60 μm2$\umu{\rm m}^{2}$ devices at low operating voltages.

Device‐Level Implementation of Reservoir Computing With Memristors

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 8, Issue 5, May 2026.
Reservoir computing (RC) is an emerging computing scheme that employs a reservoir and a single readout layer, which can be actualized in the nanoscale with memristors. As a comprehensive overview, the principles of RC and the switching mechanisms of memristors are discussed, followed by actual demonstrations of memristor‐based RC and the remaining ...
