Stratigraphy of the Chubut Group (Cretaceous, Golfo San Jorge Basin, Argentina): impacts of allogenic controls on the alluvial macro-architecture

open access: yesLatin American Journal of Sedimentology and Basin Analysis
The Chubut Group (Cretaceous, Golfo San Jorge Basin) is a continental succession up to 6,000 meters thick, preserved in an endorheic basin. Its basal depositional system includes the fluvial Matasiete Formation and the lacustrine Pozo D-129 Formation ...

Insight into cretaceous floras: a synthesis from plant microfossils of the Chubut Group in the Golfo San Jorge Basin

open access: yesLatin American Journal of Sedimentology and Basin Analysis
This study provides a comprehensive review of the key advances in micropaleontological research of the Chubut Group in the Golfo San Jorge Basin during the twenty-first century, with a particular emphasis on the plant microfossil record of two critical ...

Early angiosperm fossil leaves in Chubut Group, Cretaceous, Argentina [PDF]

open access: yesThe Paleontological Society Special Publications, 1992
The oldest angiosperm leaves from Patagonia were reported from Baquero Formation (Barremian-Aptian) in a mesofitic flora of more than one hundred gymnosperm and fern species. The next younger records are from the Chubut Group, a thick assemblage of pyroclastic sediments, with sand and conglomerate facies and frequent paleosols.

Not a Sip: Effects of Zero Tolerance Laws on Road Traffic Fatalities. [PDF]

open access: yesHealth Econ
ABSTRACT A substantial proportion of alcohol related fatalities and their consequences are preventable, prompting policymakers to implement measures aimed at reducing these deaths. I exploit time and geographic variation in the adoption of zero‐tolerance laws in a difference‐in‐differences design to study the impact of these regulations on traffic ...

Sandstone petrography and provenance of the Chubut Group (Cretaceous) in the Cañadón Matasiete (Golfo San Jorge Basin, central Patagonia): Implications for basin evolution and alluvial organization [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of South American Earth Sciences, 2020
Abstract Sandstone petrographic data have been used to investigate the provenance of the Matasiete, Pozo D-129, and Castillo formations (Chubut Group) in the Canadon Matasiete, San Bernardo Fold Belt at Golfo San Jorge Basin, Argentina. Available petrographical data provides evidence of several distinctive volcanic source areas, with minor ...

THE ROLE OF TELOGENETIC INJECTION OF MAGMATICALLY DERIVED CO2IN THE FORMATION OF DAWSONITE FROM THE CASTILLO FORMATION, CHUBUT GROUP, PATAGONIA, ARGENTINA [PDF]

open access: yesThe Canadian Mineralogist, 2014
We report the occurrence of dawsonite, NaAlCO 3 (OH) 2 , in volcaniclastic rocks of the Albian hydrocarbon reservoir Castillo Formation, Golfo San Jorge Basin, neighboring the Canadon Asfalto Basin in Patagonia; this is the first known occurrence in Argentina.

Environmental and climatic proxies for the Cañadón Asfalto and Neuquén basins (Patagonia, Argentina): review of middle to upper jurassic continental and near coastal sequences [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this review, we include several proxies (sedimentology, palynology, invertebrates) from the Cañadón Asfalto and Neuquén basins, to infer the environments and regional climatic context during the Middle to Late Jurassic of Patagonia.
