In search of templates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
This paper explores, both wit This study reflects a recent shift towards the study of early stages of expert memory acquisition for chess positions. Over the course of fifteen sessions, two subjects who knew virtually nothing about the game of chess were

Chunk-Based Bi-Scale Decoder for Neural Machine Translation

open access: yes, 2017
In typical neural machine translation~(NMT), the decoder generates a sentence word by word, packing all linguistic granularities in the same time-scale of RNN.

When Queueing Meets Coding: Optimal-Latency Data Retrieving Scheme in Storage Clouds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper, we study the problem of reducing the delay of downloading data from cloud storage systems by leveraging multiple parallel threads, assuming that the data has been encoded and stored in the clouds using fixed rate forward error correction ...

Non-parametric algorithm to isolate chunks in response sequences

open access: yesFrontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience, 2016
Chunking consists in grouping items of a sequence into small clusters, named chunks, with the assumed goal of lessening working memory load. Despite extensive research, the current methods used to detect chunks, and to identify different chunking ...

A Running Time Improvement for Two Thresholds Two Divisors Algorithm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Chunking algorithms play an important role in data de-duplication systems. The Basic Sliding Window (BSW) algorithm is the first prototype of the content-based chunking algorithm which can handle most types of data. The Two Thresholds Two Divisors (TTTD)

A Synovium‐on‐Chip Platform to Study Multicellular Interactions in Arthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The Synovium‐on‐Chip comprises a thin microporous PDMS membrane to support co‐culture of fibroblast‐like synoviocytes (FLS), THP‐1‐derived macrophages, and endothelial cells, enabling real‐time analysis of synovial‐vascular interactions. FLS migration through the pores drives endothelial remodeling, while TNF‐α stimulation induces robust inflammatory ...

Discourse chunking [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 41st Annual Meeting on Association for Computational Linguistics - ACL '03, 2003
Discourse chunking is a simple way to segment dialogues according to how dialogue participants raise topics and negotiate them. This paper explains a method for arranging dialogues into chunks, and also shows how discourse chunking can be used to improve performance for a dialogue act tagger that uses a case-based reasoning approach.
