Correlative Imaging Platform Linking Taste Cell Function to Molecular Identity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A correlative imaging platform is developed to study how individual taste cells respond to different taste qualities. By linking cellular activity with molecular identity and environmental context, dual‐tuned taste cells capable of detecting both sweet and umami stimuli are identified.

The Roles of Employer and Employee Characteristics for Plant Productivity [PDF]

open access: yes
Using a matched worker-plant data from Finnish manufacturing, the relationships of worker characteristics, wages, and productivity are examined. The process of linking various registers on employees and plants is described in detail.

Transplantation of GABAergic Interneuron Progenitors Restores Cortical Circuit Function in an Alzheimer's Disease Mouse Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Transplantation of medial ganglionic eminence (MGE) interneuron progenitors into APP/PS1 cortices restored the slow oscillation characteristic of Alzheimer's disease. Donor cells survived, migrated, and matured into functional GABAergic interneurons, forming synaptic connections.

Operating characteristics of 120-millimeter-bore ball bearings at 3 million DN [PDF]

open access: yes
A parametric study was performed with split inner-race 120-mm-bore angular-contact ball bearings at a speed of 25,000 rpm (3 million DN) at initial contact angles of 20 deg and 24 deg.

An Opto‐Actuated Hydrogel for Cell Mechanoactuation and Real‐Time Force Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Researchers developed a mechanoactuated hydrogel interface where nanomachines exert forces on adhesion receptors and allow monitoring of traction force responses in real time. They demonstrate reversible talin recruitment, enhanced F‐actin polymerization, and a reduction in cell traction force when force is locally applied to focal adhesions of ...

Rigid Hollow Microparticles for Enhanced Focused Ultrasound Treatment Under Optoacoustic Guidance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By combining focused ultrasound (FUS) and acoustically active hollow borosilicate microparticles (HBMPs), we demonstrate tunable control over interparticle dynamics and their localized thermal energy deposition. Modulation of acoustic frequency and particle concentration tailors the energy delivery, allowing adaptive, material‐based regulation of ...

Early Detection of Cell Death Using Transmembrane Water Exchange Magnetic Resonance Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cell death is important in both the development and treatment of cancer. In this study, it is demonstrated for the first time that a specific measurement of the transmembrane water exchange rate using magnetic resonance imaging can be used as an early marker of cell death in mammalian cells, in animals and in human patients. Abstract Cell death plays a
