The Origin and Fate of Chylomicrons and VLDL

1977
The intracellular processes of the formation of chylomicrons and VLDL are probably quite similar (1). Electron microscopy has provided evidence that precursor-particles are present within the profiles of the smooth endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus of intestinal mucosal and hepatic parenchymal cells.

Role of Chylomicrons in Atherogenesis

1980
Among the biochemical factors in plasma that are most often cited as signals for atherogenesis and future clinical manifestations of atherosclerosis are high levels of fasting serum cholesterol and low density lipoproteins, and low levels of high density lipoproteins (Fredrickson et al. 1978; Miller and Miller 1975).

Chylomicron Formation by the Intestine

1976
The process of intestinal chylomicron formation involves a complex sequence of biosynthetic events which converts absorbed fatty acid and monoglyceride to a completed lipoprotein particle which leaves the intestinal cell and enters the lymph. Previous speakers have discussed lipolysis, micelle formation and the absorption of the products of lipolysis ...
