Nous mites i ciència-ficció.

Dones i Ciència. Genealogia d’una exclusió

open access: yesMètode Science Studies Journal: Annual Review, 2013
És tan abundant i exhaustiva la bibliografia feminista internacional i són tan plurals els estudis des de la perspectiva de gènere que ha produït la historiografia durant les darreres dècades que la opinió pública és conscient de les raons socials ...

Ciència, científics i literatura. El paper de la literatura en la divulgació de la ciència i la tecnologia

open access: yesMètode Science Studies Journal: Annual Review, 2015
La presència de la ciència i la tecnologia a través de les seues idees innovadores i avanços tecnològics s'ha vist reflectida en nombroses obres ben conegudes i representatitives de la literatura universal.

Non-volatile optical switch of resistance in photoferroelectric tunnel junctions

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Designing energy efficient and fast optoelectric neuromorphic systems remains a challenge. Long et al. report that the combined optical-electric stimulus enables switching the ferroelectric polarization and cycling the resistance state of BaTiO3 tunnel ...

Transcriptome shifts triggered by vitamin A and SCD genotype interaction in Duroc pigs

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2022
Background The composition of intramuscular fat depends on genetic and environmental factors, including the diet. In pigs, we identified a haplotype of three SNP mutations in the stearoyl-coA desaturase (SCD) gene promoter associated with higher content ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Gendered geographies of violence: a multiple case study analysis of murdered women environmental defenders

open access: yesJournal of Political Ecology, 2021
This study illustrates how, despite the diversity of women environmental defenders and their movements around the world, there are near-universal patterns of violence threatening their survival.

Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...

Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.
