Abstract Plants produce a wide range of secondary metabolites that provide an array of benefits for human health. Challenges of native host production systems such as excessive land use, large carbon footprints, long production times, and high production costs often make plant‐based production of these critical metabolites inefficient and unsustainable.

We studied the effect of temperature (18 and 30°C) on growth and on the exploitation and interference competition of three species: Microcystis aeruginosa (MIJAC), Planktothrix agardhii (PAT), and Cyclotella meneghiniana (CCAP). Coculturing the organisms in batch systems allowed for the examination of both competitive interactions, while the ...

Constructed wetlands as an alternative to conventional wastewater treatment systems: a review [PDF]
As águas residuais apresentam um elevado teor de nutrientes, como fósforo, azoto, e matéria orgânica que podem causar problemas ambientais nas massas de água, se não forem tratadas de forma eficiente. A utilização de leitos húmidos construídos (LHC) como
