Charging damage in floating metal-insulator-metal capacitors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
In this paper, charging induced damage (CID) to metal-insulator-metal capacitors (MIMC) is reported. The damage is caused by the build up of a voltage potential difference between the two plates of the capacitor.

What Do Large Language Models Know About Materials?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
If large language models (LLMs) are to be used inside the material discovery and engineering process, they must be benchmarked for the accurateness of intrinsic material knowledge. The current work introduces 1) a reasoning process through the processing–structure–property–performance chain and 2) a tool for benchmarking knowledge of LLMs concerning ...

Crystal Engineering of Reticular Materials for Gas‐ and Liquid‐Phase Hydrocarbon Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Crystal engineering enables systematic study of structure/function relationships as exemplified by pore engineering of reticular sorbents, including porous coordination networks and covalent organic frameworks. This review assesses such studies applied across the full scope of industrially relevant hydrocarbon separations to provide insight into how ...

Degradation Observations of Protective Coatings: An Improved Version of Coating Impedance Detector

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
This study proposes coating impedance detector 3.0 (CID 3.0), an improved version of our previously developed CID 2.0. The new circuit design in CID 3.0 has lower power consumption because it has fewer components, and it affords better accuracy through ...

Cinnamic‐Hydroxamic‐Acid Derivatives Exhibit Antibiotic, Anti‐Biofilm, and Supercoiling Relaxation Properties by Targeting Bacterial Nucleoid‐Associated Protein HU

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cinnamic‐hydroxamic‐acid derivatives (CHADs) are identified as novel inhibitors of the bacterial nucleoid‐associated protein HU, exhibiting potent antibacterial, anti‐biofilm (both inhibition and eradication), and DNA relaxation (anti‐supercoiling) activities. Moreover, CHADs demonstrate strong synergistic effects with multiple antibiotics.

How does fatigue affect handstand balance? a non-linear approach to study fatigue influence in handstand performance

open access: yesJournal of NeuroEngineering and Rehabilitation
Background The handstand is an essential skill in acrobatic sports. This skill requires the athlete to maintain an inverted upright stance with only the hands supported, which requires a great effort of muscular coordination and motor control.
