Something New Under the Sun: Assessing the Relative Influence of Sunlight Irradiance and Temperature on Activity Patterns in a Conspicuous Dragonfly

In amberwing dragonfly (Perithemis tenera), solar irradiance in the 550–700 nm range (orange arrows) is only reflected by the colored wings of males (fully orange individuals). Therefore, sunlight intensity may be an important factor driving the effectiveness of their conspicuous wing displays during territorial contests and mating behavior.
