Robust Flatness Tracking Control for the “DC/DC Buck Converter‐DC Motor” System: Renewable Energy‐Based Power Supply

open access: yesComplexity, Volume 2021, Issue 1, 2021., 2021
The design of a robust flatness‐based tracking control for the DC/DC Buck converter‐DC motor system is developed in this paper. The design of the control considers the dynamics of a renewable energy power source that plays the role of the primary power supply associated with the system.

FPGA Realization and Lyapunov–Krasovskii Analysis for a Master‐Slave Synchronization Scheme Involving Chaotic Systems and Time‐Delay Neural Networks

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, Volume 2021, Issue 1, 2021., 2021
In this paper, the trajectory tracking control and the field programmable gate array (FPGA) implementation between a recurrent neural network with time delay and a chaotic system are presented. The tracking error is globally asymptotically stabilized by means of a control law generated from the Lyapunov–Krasovskii and Lur’e theory. The applicability of

Evaporation From Unsaturated Soils as a Function of the Air and Soil Sides of the Land Surface

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 56, Issue 12, December 2020., 2020
Abstract A theoretical framework for computing the evaporation from unsaturated soils is presented and validated based on laboratory experiments that were conducted in an uncontrolled environment where forcing variables vary in time according to diurnal meteorological cycles. This theory introduces a dimensionless number that controls the ratio between

Cherenkov Emission Generated by a Modulated Source in 2D Dispersive Photonic Crystal Slabs

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, Volume 2020, Issue 1, 2020., 2020
This work presents a systematic numerical study of Cherenkov optical radiation generated by a modulated source that moves with uniform velocity on a two‐dimensional (2D) photonic crystal (PCr) slab surface. We apply the FDTD technique with emphasis on the dispersion properties of the periodic medium to perform our numerical analysis.

Implementation of a Controller to Eliminate the Limit Cycle in the Inverted Pendulum on a Cart

open access: yesComplexity, Volume 2019, Issue 1, 2019., 2019
A frequency response‐based linear controller is implemented to regulate the inverted pendulum on a cart at the inverted position. The objective is to improve the performance of the control system by eliminating the limit cycle generated by the dead‐zone, induced by static friction, at the actuator of the mechanism.

Integrating Frequency Setting, Timetabling, and Route Assignment to Synchronize Transit Lines

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, Volume 2019, Issue 1, 2019., 2019
Synchronization of different transit lines is an important activity to increase the level of service in transportation systems. In particular, for passengers, transferring from one line to another, there may be low‐frequency periods and transfer zones where walking is needed, or passengers are exposed to adverse weather conditions and uncomfortable ...

Optimizing a Biobjective Production‐Distribution Planning Problem Using a GRASP

open access: yesComplexity, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
This paper addresses a biobjective production‐distribution planning problem. The problem is formulated as a mixed integer programming problem with two objectives. The objectives are to minimize the total costs and to balance the total workload of the supply chain, which consist of plants and depots, considering that it represents a company vertically ...

Mathematical Analysis of Nonimaging Fresnel Lenses Using Refractive and Total Internal Reflection Prisms for Sunlight Concentration

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
During the design of nonimaging Fresnel lenses, the reflectance losses at the refracting surfaces should be taken into account because, depending on the parameters of each prism, semiacceptance angle θin and output angle θout, these losses can decrease the total efficiency of the lens.
