Association Between Metabolic Dysfunction and Gallstone Disease in U.S. Adults: An Analysis of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey

open access: yesJournal of Digestive Diseases, EarlyView.
We revealed a robust association between gallstone disease and a cluster of metabolic disorders, including obesity, non‐alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), diabetes mellitus, and hypertension. This association was consistently observed across sensitivity analyses and was especially evident in younger individuals and females.

Senolytic treatment attenuates immune cell infiltration without improving IAV outcomes in aged mice

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 24, Issue 4, April 2025.
Aging exacerbates IAV infection severity in aged mice. Senolytic treatment fail to improve IAV morbidity and survival in aged mice. Senolytics suppress immune infiltration into the lungs. Acute senolytic treatment does not reduce senescence markers. Abstract Aging is a major risk factor for poor outcomes following respiratory infections.

Healthy Aging Metabolomic and Proteomic Signatures Across Multiple Physiological Compartments

open access: yesAging Cell, EarlyView.
The association of the aging scores with the clinical covariates suggests increased inflammation, strong predisposition to iron deficiency anemia, decline in muscle mass, and renal and hepatic functions with accelerated aging. ABSTRACT The study of biomarkers in biofluids and tissues expanded our understanding of the biological processes that drive ...

Assessment of contextualized reinforcement pathology in a community sample of young adult substance users

open access: yesAlcohol, Clinical and Experimental Research, EarlyView.
Our study examines polysubstance use among young adults through the contextualized reinforcer pathology model. Findings reveal that higher alcohol demand intensity and reinforcement from substance‐related activities predict alcohol, tobacco, and cannabis couse.

Insula under the influence: Alcohol‐induced changes in resting state functional connectivity

open access: yesAlcohol, Clinical and Experimental Research, EarlyView.
This study explored how acute alcohol consumption alters the resting‐state functional connectivity (rsFC) of the insular cortex (IC) in healthy social drinkers. Alcohol intake disrupted rsFC of the IC with numerous brain regions, including the anterior cingulate cortex, superior temporal gyrus, middle frontal gyrus, precuneus, and basal ganglia ...
