Stress and episodic future thinking: Effects on temporal window and alcohol demand

Theories suggest stress increases alcohol use by inducing short‐term thinking. Episodic future thinking (EFT), which involves vividly imagining future events to reduce short‐term thinking, may help break the stress–alcohol link. We tested whether EFT was particularly effective at reducing desire for alcohol for people under greater stress.
