Transcriptional Heterogeneity and Differential Response of Rod Photoreceptor Pathway Uncovered by Single‐Cell RNA Sequencing of the Aging Mouse Retina

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 24, Issue 5, May 2025.
Healthy aging is accompanied by transcriptional dysregulation in retinal cells, leading to alterations in key molecular pathways and cellular responses, with the scotopic pathway being particularly affected. We show that rod photoreceptors, essential for initiating scotopic (low‐light) vision, exhibit selective vulnerability to aging‐associated ...

Aging‐Associated Vacuolation of Multi‐Ciliated Cells in the Distal Mouse Oviduct Reflects Unique Cell Identity and Luminal Microenvironment

open access: yesAging Cell, EarlyView.
Multi‐ciliated cells in the infundibulum and ampulla (INF/AMP) epithelium are vacuolated in aging. Unique cellular susceptibility of the INF/AMP epithelial population and aging‐associated decline in ovarian artery circulation, which supports the ovary and INF/AMP, contribute to this region‐specific vacuolation phenotype, as a consequence of a mildly ...

The impacts of e‐cigarette flavours: An overview of systematic reviews

open access: yesAddiction, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Aims E‐cigarette flavours have the potential to impact the appeal, harms and use of e‐cigarettes and combustible tobacco. Systematic reviews have synthesised evidence on their impacts but have always focused on specific outcomes or populations.

Human Pulmonary Neuroendocrine Cells Respond to House Dust Mite Extract With PAR‐1 Dependent Release of CGRP

open access: yesAllergy, Volume 80, Issue 4, Page 976-985, April 2025.
This study aimed to develop and characterize an in vitro human PNEC model and investigated the neuroendocrine response to HDM extract. Exposure to HDM leads to dose‐dependent induction of the CGRP encoding gene, CALCB, and corresponding release of the neuropeptide.
