Oecologia, 1975The respiratory energy losses ofStentor coeruleus Ehrenberg are described in relation to cell size at 15°C and 20°C. Values forb of 0.6736 at 20°C and 0.6013 at 15°C were found. The rate of increase in metabolism between 15-20°C represents aQ 10 of between 2.02-2.89.

The distribution of Spirochona gemmipara Stein, 1852, the commensal of freshwater gammarid amphipods was examined in Ukraine. Its distribution is shown to be probably limited only by the presence of suitable habitats such as water-reservoirs with good aeration.

Taxonomy, abundance and biomass of tintinnids from the Bransfield Strait were investigated during 7-th Ukrainian Antarctic Expedition (March, 2002). 7 species of tintinnids were found in the samples. Cymatocylis affins/convallaria dominated in terms of abundance (3373 cells/m??) and biomass (0,64 mgWW/m??).
