Molecular Phylogeny of Tintinnid Ciliates (Tintinnida, Ciliophora)

Protist, 2012
We investigated the phylogeny of tintinnids (Ciliophora, Tintinnida) with 62 new SSU-rDNA sequences from single cells of 32 marine and freshwater species in 20 genera, including the first SSU-rDNA sequences for Amphorides, Climacocylis, Codonaria, Cyttarocylis, Parundella, Petalotricha, Undella and Xystonella, and 23 ITS sequences of 17 species in 15 ...

The various forms of a temporary and constant attachment in infusoria that are living in conditions of influence of a water flow are considered. Basic abiotic factors in such cases are hydrodynamic loads and during adaptation to that the diverse adhesive organelles were generated.

Morphogenesis in some freshwater Tintinnids (Ciliophora, Oligotrichida)

European Journal of Protistology, 1993
The morphogenesis of four freshwater tintinnids was investigated using protargol silver impregnation and scanning electron microscopy. Division is rather similar in Tintinnopsis cylindrata, Tintinnidium pusillum and T. semiciliatum, e.g. the oral primordium develops apokinetally posterior of somatic kinety 10 and the somatic ciliature originates by two

Molecular phylogeny of unculturable Karyorelictea (Alveolata, Ciliophora)

Zoologica Scripta, 2009
Karyorelictea is a class of traditionally unculturable ciliates characterized by a non‐dividing macronucleus. Their classification has been recently revised and morphological redescription of many species has been performed as well. On the contrary, molecular data of karyorelictean ciliates are largely underrepresented in public databases.
