Objective Takayasu arteritis (TAK) and giant cell arteritis (GCA), the most common forms of large‐vessel vasculitis (LVV), can result in serious morbidity. Understanding the molecular basis of LVV should aid in developing better biomarkers and treatments. Methods Plasma proteomic profiling of 184 proteins was performed in two cohorts. Cohort 1 included

Cilioretinal Arteries in Large Optic Disks
The cilioretinal arteries form a physiologic bypass between the ciliary and retinal circulation. The evaluation of photographs of 163 normal optic nerve heads revealed a significant (p < 0.001) correlation between the number of cilioretinal arteries and the optic disk and cup size: the larger the disk and cup the more vessels.

Central retinal artery occlusion
The pathogeneses, clinical features, and management of central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO) are discussed. CRAO consists of the following four distinct clinical entities: non-arteritic CRAO (NA-CRAO), transient NA-CRAO, NA-CRAO with cilioretinal ...

A Vision-Saving Straw in a Retinitis Pigmentosa Patient
We report a case of binocular retinitis pigmentosa (RP) with completely different visual acuity between 2 eyes, which may be contributed by the presence of cilioretinal arteries (CRAs) in 1 eye.

A novel synonymous variant of PAX2 in monochorionic diamniotic twins with bilateral renal dysplasia was demonstrated to be associated with PAX2‐disorders through the integration of clinical findings and minigene assay results. ABSTRACT Background Paired Box 2 (PAX2, NM_000278.5) encodes paired box gene 2, one of many human homologs of the Drosophila ...

Antithrombotic use in retinal artery occlusion: A narrative review
Abstract Retinal artery occlusion (RAO) is a critical ophthalmic emergency with a high risk of significant visual impairment. While traditional treatment aims to promptly restore blood flow to the retina, recent research has investigated the potential benefits of anticoagulation therapy for managing this condition. This paper reviews current literature
