Cinnamaldehyde-Contained Polymers and Their Biomedical Applications
Cinnamaldehyde, a natural product that can be extracted from a variety of plants of the genus Cinnamomum, exhibits excellent biological activities including antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer properties. To overcome the disadvantages (e.g., poor water solubility and sensitivity to light) or enhance the advantages (e.g., high ...

Bifunctional Photocatalysts: Exploiting Proximity for Enhanced Reaction Performance
This review covers the application of the bifunctional approach to photocatalysis as a means to attain (enhanced) enantioselectivity, and, more in general, as a strategy to enhance the catalytic performance through an effective use of short‐lived reaction intermediates.

Cinnamon (Cinnamomum spp.) is used as a culinary spice and dietary supplement. A major constituent, cinnamaldehyde, was previously shown to inactivate cytochrome P450 (CYP) 2A6 in vitro. A mechanistic static model predicted an ~5‐fold increase in the AUC of the CYP2A6 substrates nicotine and letrozole.

Structural alterations of lignins in transgenic poplars with depressed cinnamyl alcohol dehydrogenase or caffeic acid O-methyltransferase activity have an opposite impact on the efficiency of industrial kraft pulping [PDF]
International audienceWe evaluated lignin profiles and pulping performances of 2-year-old transgenic poplar (Populus tremula × Populus alba) lines severely altered in the expression of caffeic acid/5-hydroxyferulic acidO-methyltransferase (COMT) or ...
