The effects of a HEV‐filtering contact lens on the brightness of natural images
Abstract Purpose Yellow filters, including high‐energy‐visible (HEV) filtering lenses, have been thought to increase the subjective brightness of real‐world scenes, but laboratory results are mixed. This study used a brightness matching technique modified to present natural images using a broad spectrum of wavelengths: a visibly clear control contact ...

ABSTRACT Botrytis cinerea, the necrotrophic fungus responsible for grey mould disease, is a major threat to global crop production. Control strategies mainly rely on chemical fungicides, but resistance development limits their long‐term effectiveness. This study introduces, for the first time in crop protection, the use of DNA aptamers as a novel and ...

Improved Longan Genome Assembly Reveals Insights Into Flowering Mechanisms
ABSTRACT Longan is an exotic tropical fruit crop and exhibits off‐season flowering induced by potassium chlorate (KClO3), though the molecular mechanisms remain unclear. We assembled a high‐quality, 441.5 Mb genome of variety ‘Shixia’, with a contig N50 at 28.1 Mb, 29, 325 protein‐coding genes, 26 telomeres and 15 centromeres.

The Nature, Structure, and Perception of Illumination
ABSTRACT Illumination is a defining characteristic of natural environments, yet its nature and spatial structure remain poorly understood. I argue first that illumination is not simply light: it is an emergent, ecologically significant kind. Illumination has features not possessed by light, and contains self‐organizing structures that persist through ...
