Electrical Engineering, 1943
Airplane circuit breakers are recognized as important units in the electrical systems of military aircraft. The design of such circuit breakers can be combined with switching and contactor functions. This makes possible the use of welldeveloped switch and contactor structures.

Test Circuits for HVDC Circuit Breakers
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2017High voltage direct current circuit breakers (HVDC CBs) are necessary for reliable and safe operation of future multi-terminal meshed HVDC grids. So far no commercially mature products of such equipment exist. A few industrial concepts as a result of advances in power electronics have been proposed and prototypes have been built.

Dual-circuit hybrid circuit breaker
2017 19th European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications (EPE'17 ECCE Europe), 2017A DC fault will propagate quickly in a DC grid and results in significant DC voltage drop and large current increase. To protect the DC grid from the DC faults, the concept of hybrid HVDC circuit breaker (DCCB) is widely-accepted due to its low conducting loss and fast operation speed.

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1942
DURING the past few years the rapid expansion of mercury-arc rectifier installations at 600 volts d-c, both as to the total kilowatts installed and the relatively large number of units operated in parallel, has emphasized the importance of switchgear in providing suitable rectifier operation.

Circuit Breaker Protection for Industrial Circuits
Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1933The demand for continuity of service to customers, together with the need to reduce maintenance costs, and increase the safety to operators and property, has made it necessary to improve the protective devices used in the distribution circuit. In the past, this protection has been provided by knife switches and fuses.
