Oscillators in the human body and circular-muscle gymnastics

Medical Hypotheses, 1993
There is a growing body of literature about the role of oscillators in the living body, and about the interactions between different oscillators. Considering the importance of endogenous oscillators in regulating the body's functions, and the existence of 'dynamical diseases', diseases of control systems which involve oscillators in the body, a way to ...

Analysis of Circular Robot Jumping by Body Deformation

Proceedings 2007 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2007
As jumping is an effective method of moving over rough terrain, there is much interest in building robots that can jump, and deformation of a soft robot's body is an effective method to induce jumping. Our aim was to investigate the effect of the initial shape of deformation of a circular shell made of spring metal.

Capture in the Circular and Elliptic Restricted Three-Body Problem

Celestial Mechanics and Dynamical Astronomy, 2004
Gravitational capture of small celestial bodies by major planets is an interesting phenomenon in planetary systems and it is often used as a model for investigating of motion of comets, asteroids and moons. As a matter of fact the restricted circular or elliptic three-body problem is the model for the gravitational capture, for example, asteroids near ...

The circular restricted four-body problem

Astrophysics and Space Science, 1981
By generalizing the restricted three-body problem, we introduce the restricted four-body problem. We present a numerical study of this problem which includes a study of equilibrium points, regions of possible motion and periodic orbits. Our main motivation for introducing this problem is that it can be used as an intermediate step for a systematic ...

The Circularity of the Vertebrate Body

2014
The general image of a mammal is that of an animal standing on its four legs having a narrow trunk connecting the head with the tail. The main body configuration conveys no sense of circularity.

Torque on a Rigid Body in Circular Orbit

American Journal of Physics, 1966
The torque on a rigid body in circular orbit in a gravitational central field is derived, using the body-centered coordinate system aligned with the gravity gradient vector. Application of the general result to the special cases of pure pitch, roll, and yaw rotations is considered. From these cases, the orientations of stable equilibrium are deduced.

Circular SAR experiment for human body imaging

2007 1st Asian and Pacific Conference on Synthetic Aperture Radar, 2007
In this paper, the CSAR (circular synthetic aperture radar) technique is introduced firstly. The principle of CSAR 3D (three dimensional) imaging and the spatial wavenumber support are analyzed and the 3D resolution is discussed secondly. Secondly, Ku band fully-polarimetric CSAR human body imaging experiments are performed, and the experimental data ...

A family of almost circular orbits in the inner version of the circular three-body problem

Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, 1986
A class of periodic orbits in the classical restricted three-body problem is determined. A version of the small-parameter method is used. The convergence of the solutions obtained is proved and their domain of convergence is shown.

Circular Contact of Incompressible, Nonlinear-Elastic Bodies

ASME/STLE 2009 International Joint Tribology Conference, 2009
Contact modeling of rubber bodies is based either on viscoelasticity, nonlinear elasticity or adhesion. This paper advances a simple approach to the analysis of the contacts involving incompressible, nonlinear elastic bodies and reports experimental results on rubber to justify this approach. A good agreement is found between theory and experiments.
