Mushroom cultivation in the circular economy [PDF]
Commercial mushrooms are produced on lignocellulose such as straw, saw dust, and wood chips. As such, mushroom-forming fungi convert low-quality waste streams into high-quality food. Spent mushroom substrate (SMS) is usually considered a waste product. This review discusses the applications of SMS to promote the transition to a circular economy.

The Prosumer Economy -- Being Like a Forest [PDF]
Planetary life support systems are collapsing due to climate change and the biodiversity crisis. The root cause is the existing consumer economy, coupled with profit maximisation based on ecological and social externalities. Trends can be reversed, civilisation may be saved by transforming the profit maximising consumer economy into an ecologically and

A Simple Linear Algebraic Approach to Capture the Dynamics of the Circular Flow of Income [PDF]
This article has one single purpose: introduce a new and simple, yet highly insightful approach to capture, fully and quantitatively, the dynamics of the circular flow of income in economies. The proposed approach relies mostly on basic linear algebraic concepts and has deep implications for the disciplines of economics, physics and econophysics.

Circularity of Thermodynamical Material Networks: Indicators, Examples, and Algorithms [PDF]
The transition towards a circular economy has gained importance over the last years since the traditional linear take-make-dispose paradigm is not sustainable in the long term. Recently, thermodynamical material networks (TMNs) [1] have been proposed as an approach to design material flows based on the idea that any supply chain can be seen as a set of
