State‐of‐the‐Art, Insights, and Perspectives for MOFs‐Nanocomposites and MOF‐Derived (Nano)Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Different approaches to MOF‐NP composite formation, such as ship‐in‐a‐bottle, bottle‐around‐the‐ship and in situ one‐step synthesis, are used. Owing to synergistic effects, the advantageous features of the components of the composites are beneficially combined, and their individual drawbacks are mitigated.

Probabilistic Grading and Classification System for End-of-Life Building Components Toward Circular Economy Loop [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The longevity and viability of construction components in a circular economy demand a robust, data-informed framework for reuse decision-making. This paper introduces a multi-level grading and classification system that combines Bayesian probabilistic modeling with scenario-based performance thresholds to assess the reusability of end-of-life modular ...

Moving beyond the circular economy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The production model, which currently underpins our material prosperity, remains highly resource-intensive, and the volume of minerals, ores and fossil fuels consumed annually is set to triple by 2050 unless economic growth is decoupled from resource ...

Orbital Topology of Chiral Crystals for Orbitronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Chirality is ubiquitous in nature and constitutional for life. In chiral materials the intrinsic handedness, defined by their crystal structure, becomes a main driver for a novel electronic topology that is based on the orbital angular momentum rather than the electron spin.

Controlling the expression of heterologous genes in Bdellovibrio bacteriovorus using synthetic biology strategies

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology
Bdellovibrio bacteriovorus HD100 is an obligate predatory bacterium that preys upon Gram‐negative bacteria. It has been proposed to be applied as a “living antibiotic” in several fields such as agriculture or even medicine, since it is able to prey upon ...

A Unified Framework to Classify Business Activities into International Standard Industrial Classification through Large Language Models for Circular Economy [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Effective information gathering and knowledge codification are pivotal for developing recommendation systems that promote circular economy practices. One promising approach involves the creation of a centralized knowledge repository cataloguing historical waste-to-resource transactions, which subsequently enables the generation of recommendations based
