Cannot Extract the Circular Stapler

2019
Circular staplers can be difficult to remove after creating an anastomosis. This chapter reviews some of the techniques to use with an EEA stapler gets caught in the tissues.

Abdominal Stoma Fashioned by a Used Circular Stapler

Digestive Surgery, 2000
A method of application of a used circular stapler in abdominal stoma formation is described. The procedure is rapid, simple, carries less tissue trauma than the conventional methods and does not involve any additional cost. It allows for a precise circular aperture in the abdominal wall which may be optimally adjusted to the bowel diameter.

Evaluation of the Proximate-ILs® Circular Stapler

Annals of Surgery, 1985
In a prospective open study of the Proximate ILS circular stapler, the results of 125 intestinal anastomoses in 119 patients were reviewed. Intraoperative leakage was observed in five instances, after intraluminal povidone instillation, necessitating suture-line reinforcement. In three instances, incomplete tissue rings (donuts) were found.

Circular Stapler Technique for Gastroenterostomy

2007
In 1993, the first author of this chapter developed the laparoscopic gastric bypass, and in 1994 the technique was first reported with results (1). In this operation, the gastroenterostomy was created with a 21-mm circular stapling device. The technique of stapler anvil placement involves pulling the anvil down from the mouth to the stomach pouch with ...

Advances in Circular Stapling Techniques for Gastric Bypass: The Circular Stapler Introducer

Obesity Surgery, 2009
Modern laparoscopic bariatric surgery relies strongly on stapling devices and the perfection of the anastomotic technique is at the core of the patient's safety.Circular stapler anastomosis is a common technique for performing gastro-jejunostomy in gastric bypass surgery.

[Hemorrhoidectomy using a circular stapler].

Harefuah, 2000
We compared traditional local excision of hemorrhoids in 40 patients (group A) with excision using the CDH-33 surgical stapler designed for bowel anastomosis, in 41 (group B). In this technique a purse-string suture is prepared 3 cm above the dentate line, and the stapler is inserted and used to form a mucosa-mucosal anastomosis. This technique is less

Use of Linear and Circular Staplers

2012
The first surgical stapling devices were made by a Hungarian surgeon, Humer Hultl in 1908. Hultl’s prototype stapler of 1908 weighed 8 pounds (3.6 kg) and required 2 h to assemble and load. Many hours were spent trying to achieve a consistent staple line and reliable patent anastomoses.

New egzoluminal circular surgical stapler.

Acta of bioengineering and biomechanics, 2011
The study presents the design, prototype version and preliminary results of in vivo testing of the egzoluminal circular surgical stapler for "end-to-end" anastomosis of bowels after the resection, where staples are put outside the intestinal lumen, and walls of the intestinal tube directly contact the intestinal mucous membrane. The adopted idea of an "

Circular Stapler Anopexy For Prolapsing Haemorrhoids

2002
The current use of the circular stapler for treatment of prolapsing haemorrhoids originated in Italy by Dr Antonio Longo in 1993. The technique was fully developed and released by 1997. More than 55,000 operations have been completed to date, mainly across Europe but also in South America, Japan, Singapore, and recently in the US. Many case series have

Circular stapled rectal stricturoplasty with the proximate® intraluminal stapler

Diseases of the Colon & Rectum, 1995
Benign rectal strictures arise from a variety of causes, and numerous techniques have been developed to deal with them. When even the most innovative methods of stricture treatment fail, major resection may be required. An alternative to resection is desirable.A case is presented in which the Proximate curved intraluminal stapler was used to perform ...
